A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS
SUPPORTING THE HOUSTON 2012 FOUNDATION'S EFFORTS TO BID FOR
AND RECEIVE THE 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES
WHEREAS, the City of Houston, Texas desires to become the Host City for the OIYlnpic
Games in 2012; and
WHEREAS, the Houston 2012 Foundation is worlcing to bril1g the OIYlnpic Gmlles to
Houston; and
WHEREAS, both the private and public sector of tIle City of Houston are strongly
dedicated to acllieving Houston's maximum potential as an international city and both. see tIle
establishment of Houston as an international sports city to be a natural and importa11t step in
fulfilling that .potential; and.
WHEREAS, hosting the Olympic Games in Texas will give the world an opportunity to
see and enjoy the abundant natural beauty of Texas; and
WHEREAS, the City of West University Place deenls it ill the public interest to sllpport
tIle Houston 2012 Foundation's efforts to bid for and receive the Olympic Games 2012.
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
UNIVERSITY PLACE:
Section 1~ The City fully supports the HOllston 2012 Foundation's efforts in its bid.
for the Olympic games~
Section 2. All resolutiollS and parts of resolutiollS ill conflict llerewitll are llereby
repealed to the extent of tIle conflicts only ~
Sectioll 3 ~ If any word, phrase, clause, sentence, paragrapll, section or otller part of
this resolution oI.the application thereof to any person or cirCllffistallce, sIlal1 ever be l1eld-tO-be
invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent jllrisdiction, the remainder of tllis
resolution and tile application of such word., phrase, clause, sentence, paragrapll, section or otller
part of tllis resolution to any other persons or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

discussed, considered or acted U.POll was given in tIle lTIatmer required by tIle Texas Opell
Meetings Act, as amended, and that each SUCll meeting 'has been opel1 to tIle public as reqllired by
law at all times during such discussiol1, consideration and actioll~ TIle City COllncil ratifies,
approves aIld COl1firms SllCll notices alld the COlltents and postillg tllereof.
