Resolution No. 99-04
A RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE NEW COLLEGE PARK SUBDIVISION LOCATED
IN THE AREA BOUNDED BY WESLAYAN, BROWNING AND BISSONNET STREETS;
SOLICITING SUGGESTIONS FOR THE NAMING OF THE STREETS; AUTHORIZING
TERMINATIONS OF OLD LEASES; AND CONTAINING FINDINGS AND OTHER
PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY
PLACE;
Section 1. The City Council formally solicits suggestions from residents, property
owners and members of the public for the naming of two new streets to be constructed in
.the College Park subdivision bounded by Weslayan1 Browning and Sissonnet Streets. The
City Council notes that many existing streets in the area are named for colleges,
universities and authors1 and suggestions of this sort might be particularly appropriate for
the new streets. Suggested names shou'd be submitted, in wrlting, to the City Manager by
February 15, 19991 jf at aJ1 practicabJe.
Section 2. The City Council authorizes the termination of two old leases between
the City and the former owner of land within the College Park subdivision. The leases are
identified in Exhibit A, attached.
Section 3. All resolutions and parts of resorutions in confHct herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of the conflict only&
Section 4. If any word, phrase~ clause) sentencet paragraph} section or other part
of this resolution or the application thereof to any person or circumstance, shall ever be
held to be invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction) the remainder
of this resolution and the application of such workJ phrase, clause} sentence} paragraph}
section or other part of this reso~ution to any other persons or circumstances shall not b'e
affected thereby.
Section 5.. The City CouncH officially finds, determines and declares that a sufficient
written notice of the date, hour1 place and subject of each meeting at which this resolution
was discussed, considered or acted upon was given in the manner required by the Texas
Open Meetings Law1 as amended, and that each such meeting has been open to the public
as required by law at all times during such discussion) cons;derat~on and action. The City
CouncH ratifies, approves and confirms such notices and the contents and posting thereof.
Section 6. This resolution shaH take effect immediately upon its adoption and
signature.
