HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 2007-06 Concerning the coordination of Emergency Management Resolution No. 2007-06 JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS, AND HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS, CONCERNING THE COORDINATION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT WHEREAS, the City of West University Place (the "City"), by City Ordinance No~ /~S-o, and _Harris County (the "County"), by Commissioners Court Order dated ~~ 7 ; have established similar programs of comprehensive emerg ~cy management which include the mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery phases of emergency management; and WHEREAS, the City and the County find that vulnerability to many potential hazards is shared by residents of the City of West University Place and the unincorporated portions of Harris County; and WHEREAS, the City and the County further find that the common goal of emergency management can best be achieved through an organizatio"n which shares the combined resources of the City and the County; and WHEREAS, the contemplated action is specifically authorized by the aforementioned Ordinance and Court Order~ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that there is hereby established the Hal1~is County Emergency Management organization which shall consist of the officers and employees of the City and of the County as designated in an interjurisdictional e"mergency management plan, together with such organized volunteer groups as that plan may specify~ and ,,~ BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of West University Place and the Harris County Judge shall agree on the appointment of an Emergency Management Coordinator to coordinate all aspects of the Harris County program of comprehe"nsive emergency management, including the preparation and maintenance of an interjurisdictional emergency management plan for West University Place and HalTis County in accordance with this resolution. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this joint resolution will be reviewed and resubmitted every two years to be in compliance with the election of new mayors. The County or the City may terminate this resolution, with or without cause, prior to the expiration of the term set forth above, upon thirty (30) days prior written notice to the other party.
