HomeMy WebLinkAbout061101S CC Min CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL SESSION MONDAY, JUNE 11, 2001 MUNICIPAL BUILDING 3800 UNIVERSITY BLVD. 6:30 P.M. The City Council convened in Special Session in the Municipal Building Council Chambers (3800 University Blvd.) on June 11, 2001, with the following members present: Mayor Lewis presiding, Council Members May, Griffin, and Jackson. The City Manager, City Secretary, City Attorney, Fire Chief, Police Chief and Finance Director, were also present. Council Member Farley was absent. The notice for this meeting was posted in accordance with the Texas Government Code, th Chapter 551, on the 8 day of June 2001 at 1:00 p.m. Agenda Review: The City Council reviewed the regular meeting agenda and discussed items under consideration with the Staff. Matters related to Ordinance No. 1680. City Attorney Jim Dougherty reported that Ordinance No. 1680 was a compilation of ordinance amendments over the last two years. Mayor Lewis inquired about placing the code on the web site. City Manager Sherman Yehl stated that the Staff would present a report at a future meeting regarding the options for placing the code on the city?s web page. Mayor Lewis suggested that a committee be formed to review the ordinances for items no longer effective. She asked Councilman Griffin to serve on the committee. Matters related to Ordinance No. 1682. Finance Director Walter Thomas reported that Ordinance No. 1682 related to the 2001 Bond Issue. Five bids were received with the low bid being submitted by First Union Securities. The bid is one-half percent below the estimated amount on the preliminary statement. Mayor Lewis requested a comparison report on the 6% estimated interest rate used for the initial program in 1996 with the actual rates. City Council Special Session, June 11, 2001 Quarterly report. Matters related to the first quarter report. The City Staff reviewed the first quarter report with the City Council. The City Council recessed the Special Session at 7:25 p.m. to convene in Regular Session. The Special Session reconvened at 7:55 p.m. Streetlights. Matters related to a report on a streetlight installation test program. Mr. Yehl reported that streetlights would be placed in the 3700 block of Georgetown, the 4000 block of Browning and the 4000 block of Ruskin on a trial basis. The residents in the area will be notified and the lights should be installed within 45 days. Matters related to the purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property. Property located at 4210 Bellaire Boulevard known as Y.M.C.A. Mr. Yehl reported that representatives for the Y.M.C.A. had requested an extension of the contract deadline. Adjournment. With no further business to come before the City Council at this time, a motion was made by Councilman Griffin, seconded by Councilman Jackson, to adjourn. The Special Session adjourned at 7:59 p.m. 2
