HomeMy WebLinkAbout082102S CC Min CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL SESSION MONDAY, AUGUST 21, 2002 MUNICIPAL BUILDING 3800 UNIVERSITY BLVD. 6:00 P.M. The City Council convened in Special Session in the Municipal Building Conference Room (3800 University Blvd.) on August 21, 2002, with the following members present: Mayor Lewis presiding, Council Members May, Farley, Griffin, and Jackson. The City Manager, City Secretary, Finance Director, Police Chief, Fire Chief and Interim Public Works Director were also present. The notice for this meeting was posted in accordance with the Texas Government Code, th Chapter 551, on the 16 day of August 2002 at 12:00 p.m. City finances, facilities, programs and the 2003 Budget. Matters related to city finances, facilities, programs and the 2003 Budget including revenues and expenditures for current and future years for all funds, and capital improvements and related programs and expenditures, including YMCA facilities and other park projects, police and public works facilities, street lighting, sidewalks, drainage and flood control, animal recreation facility, traffic and parking and other public improvements. The City Council and City Staff reviewed the proposed Public Safety budget. A Police Department reorganization plan was discussed along with future capital projects. The purchase of a motorcycle with funds from the 2002 budget was also addressed. Mayor Lewis stated that she would not support the purchase of a motorcycle for traffic enforcement. The Fire Department budget includes the creation of a new Information Systems position that would provide an estimated $35,000 in personnel savings. The increase in firefighter staffing was also addressed. Adjournment. With no further business to come before the City Council at this time, a motion was made by Council Member Farley, seconded by Council Member Jackson, to adjourn. The Special Session adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
