HomeMy WebLinkAbout021102R CC Min CITY COUNCIL REGULAR SESSION MONDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2002 MUNICIPAL BUILDING COUNCIL CHAMBERS 3800 UNIVERSITY BOULEVARD 7:30 P.M. The City Council convened in Regular Session in the Municipal Building Council Chambers on February 11, 2002, with the following members present: Mayor Lewis presiding, Council Members May, Farley, Griffin and Jackson. The City Manager, City Secretary, City Attorney, Public Works Director and Fire Chief were also present. The notice for this meeting was posted in accordance with the Texas Government Code, th Chapter 551, on the 8 of February 2002 at 4:00 p.m. Citizen Comments. Mayor Lewis invited citizens who wished to address the City Council to come forward as their names were called. Dan Myers, 2602 Werlein, spoke to the City Council regarding the proposed changes to the plant barrier at the 2600 block Werlein. He requested that the barrier be reinstalled as it originally was with the mature plants. Andy Wilson, 2621 Werlein, stated that he agreed with Mr. Myers. He requested that the residents on his block have access to the plans for the barrier. Leo Sacchi, 3768 Rice, commented that he did know the details of the incident with the Police Chief but that he felt if a man does his job well what he watches is his own business. He also spoke to the City Council about stricter regulations on noise. Foundation repair at Community Building. Matters related to a proposal to repair the foundation at the Community Building located at 6104 Auden. Public Works Director Michael Ross reported that the foundation at the Community Building has subsided in several locations along the front of the building. In order to lessen damage to the interior of the building and prevent further subsidence of the foundation, a design build proposal was sought from Primary Construction Company for the foundation repair. Primary Construction in consultation with their engineer have prepared a proposal to provide all necessary engineering and repair the defective portions of this foundation for a total cost of $23,834.12. City Council Regular Session, February 11, 2002 A motion was made by Council Member Jackson, seconded by Council Member Farley, to authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with Primary Construction in the amount of $23,834.12. A vote was taken on the motion with the following result: Voting Aye: Mayor Lewis, Council Members May, Farley, Griffin and Jackson Voting Nay: None Absent: None City Council minutes. Matters related to the minutes of the Regular and Special Sessions conducted on January 28, 2002. A motion was made by Council Member Farley, seconded by Council Member May, to approve the minutes as amended. A vote was taken on the motion with the following result: Voting Aye: Mayor Lewis, Council Members May, Farley, Griffin and Jackson Voting Nay: None Absent: None Council comments. Council Member Farley commented on the letter received from a resident thanking the City Council for approving an increase in the retirees? annuities. Council Member Griffin commented that the residents on Werlein should meet with the Public Works Director to discuss the plant barrier. Adjournment. With no further business to come before the City Council at this time, a motion was made by Council Member Jackson, seconded by Council Member May, to adjourn.
