Before adjourning the meeting, Councilmember Lankford wanted to say for the record that she
understands that the voting rules are changing, but she recommends in the future if candidates send out
mailers to people to request a mail-in ballot, the candidates and the City need to give more of a notice
that people need to track their mail-in ballots. She said she thinks many people did not understand they
could track their ballot, because by chance she discovered one voter’s mail-in ballot was either lost or
did not arrive in time. She said had she not discovered that by the early listings Council received daily
during the early voting period, the voter would not have known that he needed to go and vote in person.
Councilmember Lankford said with thefts at the post office boxes close to west U and with the uncertainty
of the mail, she thinks it is essential that people know they need to track their ballot to see if they need
to go vote in person and she does not think that the message got out to people.
3. Adjourn
With no other business before the Council, Councilmember Sobash moved to adjourn the meeting at
approximately 4:06 p.m. Councilmember Lankford seconded the motion. MOTION PASSED.
