Toby Brooks and Susan White , John Barnes, Mardi Turner. Absent : Stan McCandless , Candyce Beneke , Selby Clark , Carol O’Neill, Tom Brombacher. Guests : Dick Yeh le , Pamela Tanner Minutes: There were no minutes from the May 2020 Virtual Join.me meeting . Citizen Comments : 1. None Council M eeting R eport: John Barnes 1. Providing funding for the Drainage Ditch and other proje cts. 2. Personal Policy Handbook ordinance considered on the October 5 agenda, second reading on the October, 26 agenda. Regarding the possibly of amending a designated holiday for the City. Re: MLK day. Petition (266 signatures) and b udget n eutrality being an important budgetary concern. 3. Notice for P ublic meetings listed on the City website for residents to get involved in public comments via the virtual meetings. 4. Covid 19 o perations overall impact on the budget: Revenue from Parks Dept. dow n 70 percent. Fees projected to be a rough shortfall of $800,000 for 2020. Parks and Recreation: Susan White 1. C ovid 19 V irus Update: O perating : West U Recreation C enter at 50 percent capacity. Reservations only to control capacity. Concerns , regarding spacing for six foot social distancing. Receiving positive Resident response on precautions staff is taking and reservation policies . Temperature checks ceased. V entilation and filtration up to standard via Facility Maintenance . Colonial Park P ool at 50 pe rcent capacity. Extended Pool Season and new features appreciated by residents. Last day of operations will be Sunday, September 27. Seniors: Virtual Programming, Drive Thru events, coordinating with Good Neighbor Team during hurricane. Storm preparations . Fathers and Flashlights cancelled. Fun Run suspended. 2. Park Playgrounds re openings with signage a t your own risk. Working closely with emergency management for next steps. S afety being number one priority . 3. Colonial Park is not open due to construction wi th new updates and features. 4. Update to Senior Needs Assessment that was held back due to Covid 19, now back on track after meeting with Dr. Walker from Texas A & M . APAC Report Minutes sent to you via email. Good Neighbor Team: Mardi Turner Senior Board Meeting, Minutes of March 12, 2020 Page 2 of 2 1. Article written by Mardi on the National Charity League for next months Essentials magazine regarding the Senior Services philanthropy partnership serving the Good Neighbor T eam recipients as well as the general s enior population as well. 2. Good Neighbor Team cards ready for delivery. E ncourage senior members to sign the cards. Encourage phone calls to keep in touch with seniors. Senior Services report: Toby Brooks 1. Reported on use of the National Charity League stepping in the gap to deliver due to Covid restricti ons to regular senior over 65 members of the GNT. Sidewalk Chalk, Facemasks, Painted Rocks, July 4 Car Cruise and other upcoming partnerships with NCL scheduled for the Fall. 2. Collaborated with the City of Deer Park (Reptiles) and Susan Davis, (Stroke Prev ention) working to incorporate other Cities and agencies to share costs and resources . 3. Fall Cards and Thanksgiving cards ready for GNT members to sign. Upcoming Pumpkin Patch drive thru event. 4. Drive Thru and virtual events continue. Including Sandwich Da y (November 3) with enforced social distancing. 5. Possible Virtual Programming C ommittee to assist with ideas and suggestions. Old Business 1) No old business discussed.
