CONTRACTORS AND RELATED REGULATIONS; AMENDING THE DEFINITION OF MAJOR REMODELING; AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS; AND CONTAINING FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS: Section L That the definition of Major Remodeling appearing in Subsection (a) of Section 6-1 of Article I, Chapter 6 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of West University Place, Texas, is hereby amended to read as follows: MajoJ::....~~ remodeling means the constr'uction of additions to an existing principal building, or building containing garage space or accessory quarters which increase its gross floor area to one hundred twenty five percent (125%) or more of its gross floor area on April 9, 1990 (or the date it was completed, if completion occurred after April 9, 1990). Section 2. This ordinance applies to remodeling work in progress on the effective date or begun thereafter . All other remade 1 i n9 work is governed by the ordinances in existence before the effective date, and such ordinances are continued in effect for such purpose as if this ordinance were not in force. Violation is committed before the effective date of this ordinance if elements of the violation occur before the effective date. Section 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of the conflict only. Secti on 4. I f any word. phrase, clause. sentence, paragraph, section or other part of this ordinance or the application thereof to any person or circumstance. shall ever be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction. the remainder of this ordinance and the application of such word, phrase. clause, sentence, paragraph. secti on or other part of thi s ordi nance to any other persons or circumstances shall not be affected thereby. Section 5. The City Council officially finds, determines and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of each meeting at which this ordinance was discussed, cons i dered or ac upon was given in the manner requ i red by the Open Meetings Law, TEX. REV. CIV. STAT. ANN. art. 6252-17, as amended, and that each such meeting has been open to the public as required by Ordinance Number 1 law at all times during such discussion, considera on and ae on.
