AN ORDINANCE LEVYING AND ASSESSING AN AD VALOREM
TAX ON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE CORPORATE
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE,
TEXAS, FOR THE YEAR 1987 PROVIDING THE BASIS OF
ASSESSMENT OF APPRAISED VALUE AND PROVIDING FOR
THE COLLECTION THEREOF AT THE RATE OF $0.412 ON
THE ONE HUNDRED ($100.00) DOLLAR ASSESSED
VALUATION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY
PLACE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That there is hereby levied and assessed against all
taxable property, both real and personal, within the corporate limits
of the City of West University Place, Texas, and there shall be
collected by such city, a tax of $0.412 on the one-hundred ($100.00)
dollar assessed tax valuation for the year 1987.
Section 2. Such tax is hereby levied and assessed in accordance
with the terms and provisions of Section 8.07 of Article VIII of the
City of West University Place City Charter and the applicable Statutes j
of the State of Texas, such levy and assessment is made for the
follOWing purposes to finance a certain portion of the 1988 budget, · ,
to-wit:
(A) For current expenses and operation
of the General Fund and its various
departments
(B) For General Debt Service Fund to pay the
principal, interest and fiscal agent's fees
on $8,150,000 bond issues of the City

Section 3. That the Tax Assessor and Collector for the City of
West University Place, Texas, is hereby directed to assess and collect
taxes on all of the property, both real and personal, within the
corporate limits of the City of West University Place, Texas, on the
basis of 100% of appraised valuations as herein provided.
Section 4, If any word, phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph,
section or other part of this ordinance or the application thereof to
any person or circumstance, shall ever be held to be invalid or
unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, the remainder
of this ordinance and the application of such word, phrase, clause,
sentence, paragraph, section or other part of this ordinance to any
other persons or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

Section 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of the conflict only.
Section 6. The City Council officially finds, determines and
declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, hour, place and
subject of each meeting at which this ordinance was discussed,
considered or acted upon was given in the manner required by the Open
Meetings Law, TEX. REV. CIV. STAT. ANN. art. 6252-17, as amended,
and that each such meeting has been open to the public as required by
law at all times during such discussion, consideration and action. The
City Council ratifies, approves and confirms such notices and the
contents and posting thereof. '
