I ....J L~ _ , I ;;i{)0142 ORDINANCE NUMBER 1220 AN ORDINANCE AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE PERMANENT IMPROVE- MENTS OF THE 3800 BLOCK OF CASE STREET, THE 4200 BLOCK OF ALBANS STREET AND THE 4200 BLOCK OF EMORY STREET; MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO SUCH STREET IM- PROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING MONEY TO PAY FOR SUCH IMPROVEMENTS; AND DECLAR1~G AN EMERGENCY. ,----,' WHEREAS, by Ordinance Number 1219, the Council has determined the necessity to pave the portion of the above noted steets; and WHEREAS, such approved engineering plans and specifications were approved by Council and were duly advertised for competitive bids, and such bids having been received, opened and reviewed by the Council and city staff; and WHEREAS, the city staff recommends that the contract be awarded to John G. Holland Construction Company in the total amount of $225,183.10. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST UN I VERS I TY PLAC E, TEXAS: ' Section 1. That the lowest responsible and secure bid for this project was submitted by John G. Holland Construction Company in the amount of $225,183.10, and that such bid is the most advantageous for the city. Section 2. The contract for said improvements is hereby awarded to said bidder and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute and the City Secre- tary to attest such contract, and the Mayor is also authorized to approve and accept appropriate performance, payment and maintenance bonds submitted in compliance with the specifications. !'-\ I I I '---.-J Section 3. Further, the amount of $225,183.10 is hereby appropria- ted from the 1983 bond sale proceeds or from other general city funds as the Council determines necessary, to pay for the cost of such paving contract. Section 4. There exists a public emergency requiring that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction. This ordinance shall be passed finally on the first reading, January 23, 1984, and shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval.
