ORDINANCE NUMBER 1353
AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD; ADDING A
PROVISION FOR ADVISORY MEMBERS; AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS; AND CONTAINING FINDINGS AND
PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY
PLACE, TEXAS:
Section 1. Section 16-16 of the Code of Ordinances of the City Of
West University Place, Texas is hereby amended to read in its entirety
as follows:
Sec. 16-16. Created; members.

There is hereby created and established the parks and
recreation board of the City which shall consist of not to exceed
fifteen full members who shall be appointed by the City Council.
Full members of the parks and recreation board shall be qualified
electors of the City. Full members of the board shall serve from
the date they are appointed and shall have qualified until the
next regular city election and thereafter until their successors
are appointed and shall have qualified. In addition to the full
members of the board, any members of the Board of Directors of the
Friends of West University Parks Fund (a non-profit corporation)
who are appoi nted by the City Council and are not full members of
the parks and recreation board shall be ex officio advisory
members (non-voting) of the parks and recreation
board.
Section 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of the conflict only.
Section 3. If any word, phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph,
section or other part of this ordinance or the application thereof to
any person or circumstance, shall ever be held to be invalid or
unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, the remainder
of this ordinance and the application of such word, phrase, clause,
sentence, paragraph, section or other part of this ordinance to any
other persons or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

Section 4. The City Council officially finds, determines and
declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, hour~ place and
subject of each meeting at which this ordinance was discussed,
considered or acted upon was given in the manner required by the Open
Meetings Law, TEX. REV. CIV. STAT. ANN. art. 6252-17, as amended,
and that each such meeting has
been open to the public as required by law at all times during such
discussion, consideration and action. The City Council ratifies,
approves and confirms such notices and the contents and posting thereof.

Ordinance Number 1353
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect when it has been
adopted and signed as required by the City Charter.
