That the Code of Ordinances of the City of West Univer- s1ty Place, Texas, is hereby amended so that hereafter Section 12-14 shall read as follows: 'ISection 12-14. Food service sanitation manual adopted. (a) The definitions, the inspection of food service establishments, the issuance, suspension and revocation of permits to operate food service establishments, the ptohibiting of the sale of un- sound or mislabeled food or drink, and the enforcement of this ordinance shall be regulated in accordance with the 1976 edition of the Food and Dr.ugAdministration "Food Service Sani- tation Ordinancel], thr.ee ~3) copies of which shall be on file in the Office of the City Secretary. (b) Sub-section (c) shall be added to Section 6-603 of the "Food Service Sanitation Ordinance'l as follows: All garbage loading areas must be kept washed, cleaned and free Qf any odor caused by materials." Section 2. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of West Univer- sity Place i.s hereby amended so that Section 12-21 is deleted in its entirety. Section 3. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of West Univer- sity Place is hereby amended so that hereafter Section 12-22 shall read as fo 11 ows : "Section 12-22. Training Course (a) The owner of each food establishment shall designate the manager or operator and each shift supervisor to take and successfully pass a food handler's tr.a.ining course which is given by the City of Houston on a continuous basis within three (3) months or upon expiration of their ~urrent permit whichever is sooner. '. . ;~O~;()O 2 (c) If a person representing the food establishment has enrolled for such training course, the City Health Officer shall issue a temporary permit to such food establishment until such time as the applicant has passed such course, or has failed or refused to take the same when offered, or has taken the same and failed to make a passing grade thereon. Section 4. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of West Univer- sity Place, Texas, is hereby amended so that hereafter Section 12-23 shall read as follows: "Sect ion 12-23. Du rat i on; renewa 1 All permits issued under the provisions of this article shall expire one (1) year from the date of issuance. Renewals may be granted only if the applicant again passes an examination or food handlerls course, as in the case of new permits.'1 SectJon 5. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of West Univer- sity Place, Texas, is hereby amended so that hereafter Section 12-37 shall read as fo 11 ows : 'ISection 12-37. Fee Every applicant for a food establishment permit shall pay a permit fee 'in advance to the Board of Health of Fifty ($50.00) Dollars per annum. Such permit fee becomes applicable upon the expiration of the current permit." n I....-J Section 6. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of West Univer- sity Place, Texas, is hereby amended so that hereafter Section 12-38 shall read as follows: "Section 12-38. Issuance The health officer shall, upon completion of his investigation of the premises, transmit to the Board of Health the application for a food establishment permit, together with his recommendation for or against the issuance of a license. If the Board of Health shall be satisfied that the applicant is of good character and reputation, and that the premises where the food establishment is to be located are proper and suitable from a sanitary standpoint, they shall issue, or cause to be issued, a good establishment permit. Such permit shan be signed by the City Health Officer and Inspector.11 Section 7. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of West Univer- sity Place~'Texas, Is herebyiamended .so th~t 'hereafter Sectfon-12-39ishall read as fo-l lows;' , "Section 12-39. Duration; renewal Every permit issued under the provisions of this article shall ex- pire on the 31st day of August, and may be issued for an unexpired portion of the year upon payment in advance of a proportionate part of the annual fee.11 u ~ o [: ."! , '/~:~~~,Jt~ 3 .< .~$..' -.... .. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of West Univer-' .' sity Place, Texas, is hereby amended so that hereafter sub-section (e) shall be added to Section 12-43 and shall read as follows: ", :'~'" II(e) Everyone who desires to remodel or alter any area that is used for the dispensing, preparation or storage of food products, includ- ing necessary sanitation facilities; shall submit to the health of- ficer andlbr health lnspector,any and'all plans, blueprints or drawings for approval before such plans, blueprints or drawings shall be submitted to the Building Inspector for permits to do such re- modeling or alterations.11 Section 9. That the Code of Ordinances of the,City of West Univer- sity Place, Texas is hereby amended so that hereafter Section 12-44 is deleted in its entirety. Section 10. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of West Univer- sity Place, Texas is hereby amended so that hereafter Section 12-45 is deleted in its entirety. Section 11. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of West Univer- sity Place, Texas is hereby amended so that hereafter Section 14-58 is deleted in its entirety. Sectibn 12. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of West Univer- sity Place, Texas is hereby amended so that hereafter Section 14-59 is deleted in its entirety. Section 13. Tha~ the Code of Ordinances of the City of West Univer- sity Place, Texas is hereby amended so that hereafter Section 14-60 is deleted "in its entirety. Section 14. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect imme- diately from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor.
