ORDINANCE NUMBER 1121
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY
OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS, BY ADDING A SECTION TO
BE NUMBERED 22-3; PROVIDING THAT IF THE TAX PAYER FILES
A SWORN APPLICATION WITH THE TAX ASSESSOR DURING THE TAX
YEAR ESTABLISHING THAT 'HIS PROPERTY IS A RESIDENCE HOME-
STEAD AND IS OWNED AND OCCUPIED BY PERSONS 65 YEARS OF
AGE OR OLDER THAT SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS ($6,000.00) OF
THE ASSESSED VALUATION OF SUCH HOMESTEAD SHALL BE EXEMPT
FROM TAXATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WEST
UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS:
Section 2. That Section 22-3 of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of West University Place, Texas is hereby amended so that hereafter said
Section 22-3 shall read as follows:
"Section 22-3: That if a tax payer files a sworn
application for homestead exemption with the tax
assessor at any time up to and including the last
day of December of a tax year establishing that
his property is a residence homestead owned and
occupied by persons 65 years of age or older, six
thousand dollars ($6,000.00) of the assessed value
of such homestead shall be exempted from ad valorem
taxes as assessed and levied for that year. Appli-
cation forms may be furnished by the Tax Assessor
and Collector."
Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force
immediately from and after its passage and approval as required by law.
