AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE, CODE OF ORDINANCES OF, THE CITY.
OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS~ HYADDINGA SECTION TO ' .
BE NUMBERED 22-3; PROVIDING THAT IF THETAX' PAYER FILES
A SWORN APPLICATION WITH THE TAX ASSESSOR DURING THE TAX
YEAR ESTABLlSHINGTHAT HIS PROPERTY IS A RESIDENCE HOME-
STEAD AND IS OWNED AND OCCUPIED BY ,PERSONS 65 YEARS OF
AGE OR OLDER THAT THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($3,000.00) OF
THE ASSESSED VALUATION OF SUCH HOMESTEAD SHALL BE EXEMPT
FROM TAXATIO"N;AND PROVIDIN'G AN EFF'ECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ~EST UNIVERSITY
PLACE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of West Univer-
sity Place, Texas, is hereby amended by adding a Section to be numbered 23-3,
whi ch Secti on shall read as fo 11 ows: .
"Section 23-3: That if a tax payer files a sworn
application for, homestead exemption with: the tax
assessor at any time up to an including the last
day of December of a tax year establishing that
hi s property is, a res i dence homes tead owned and.,
occupied by persons 65 years of age or older, t~ree .
thousand dollars ($3,000.00) of the assessed value
of such homestead shall be 'exempted from ad valorem
taxes as assessed and levied for that year. Appli-
cation forms maybe furnished by the Tax Assessor
and Collector. II
Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force
immediately from and after its 'passage and approval as required by law.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 14th day of April, 1975.
