ORDINANCE NUMBER 995
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NUMBER 889 CREATING A
PARKS AND 'RECREATION BOARD, BY INCREASING THE MEMBERS
THEREOF, PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A CHAIRMAN
OF SUCH BOARD; REPEALING ANY PROVISION OF ORDINANCE
NO. 889 IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFEC-
TIVE DATE.- ' -
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY
PLACE, TEXAS: '

. Section 1. That the 'Parks and Recreation Board of the City of West
University Place, Texas,shall'consist of seven (7)'members, who shall be ap-
pointed by the City Commission. '
- Section 2. The Board shall have power and shall be required tQ:
(a) Advise the Commission and the City Manager on matters relating
tp Parks and. Recreation. - "
(b) Make studies and investigations of park facilities and recommend
to the City Commission plans for the improvement of such facilities.
(c) Make studies and investigations of the public recreation pro-
gram of the City and make recommendations to the Commission regarding such
program.

(d) Perform suchotherauties with reference to parks and a re-
creation program, not inconsistent with this Ordiaance, as the Commission may
from time to time, require~
Section 3. Members of the Parks and Recreation Board shall be quali-
fied electors of the City.
Section 4. Members of the Board shall serve until the next regular
City election and until their successors are appointed and qualified.
Section 5. Members of the Board shall serve without compensation.
Section 6. All personnel in the service of the City shall furnish
the Board any information required by it in the performance of the Boardts
duties and shall allow members of the Board reasonable access to premises,
buildings, and records under the charge and direction of such employee.
Section 7. The City Commission may appoint a Chairman of the Parks
and Recreation Board to serve during each calendar year.
Section 8. In the event of a conflict between this ordinance and
Ordinance No. 889, the terms hereof shall prevail.

Section 9. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force im-
mediately from and after its passage and approval.
