AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY
OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS, BY AMENDING SECTION 23-181;
PROHIBITING THE DRIVING OF VEHICLES ON OR ACROSS BICYCLE
LANES; PROHIBITING PARKING IN BICYCLE LANE LOCATED ON UNI-
VERSITY BOULEVARD; PROVIDING FOR A FINE' FOR PARKING VIOLATION;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY
PLACE, TEXAS;
Section 1. That Section 23"181 of the Code of Ordinances of the City
of West University Place, Texas, is hereby amended so that hereafter said Section
shall read as follows:
"Section 23-181. ' Establishment of bicycle lane.
There is hereby established in the City of West University Place,
Texas, bicycle lanes, the boundaries of which are as follows: a
lane of six (6') feet, in width parallel to the face of the curb
or edge of pavement to be designated for the use of bicycles in
the following locations:
A. South side of University Boulevard beginning at Community
Drive to 100' west of Kirby Drive.
B. West side of Academy from Law to Bellaire Boulevard
C. East side of College from University to Riley
D. West side of Belmont from Bissonnet to University
E. East side of Edloe from Sunset to Rice
F. West side of Edloe from Rice to University
G. East side of College from Browning to Milton
H. North side of Milton from College to Auden
The Traffic Engineer ifvdirected. to post appropiate signs and use
other traffic control devices as shall be necessary to properly
mark said bicycle lanes."
Section 2. That Section 23~121 of the Code of Ordinances of the City
of West University Place, Texas, is hereby amended by the addition thereto of Sub-
Section (15), which Sub-Section shall hereafter read as follows:
"Section 23-121 (a) (15): Prohibited in specified places.

(a) No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle, except When] \
necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with law or ! I
the directions of a police officer or traffic-control device, in any of the : I
following places : '\ !
(15) In bicycle lane heretofore designated on the south side of
University Boulevard from Community Drive to 100' west of
Kirby Drive between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m."
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force on
and after March 1, 1980.
