ORDINANCE 720
AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF ASSISTANT CITY SECRErARY
OF TEE CITY OF ,(>lEST UNIVERSITY PIACE,' TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR
HIS OR EER APPOm.rMENT, DEFINING TEE Dorms, PROVIDING FOR
EXECorION OF A SURETY BOIilD, REPEALING ALL PRIOR ORDINANCES,
RESOLUTIONS OR' MOTIONS HERETOFORE APPROVED IN CONFLICT WITH
THIS ORDINANCE, AND PROVIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE:
EFFECT IMMEDIATELY UPON ITS PASSAGE AND APPROVAL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS:
Section 1. Ther~ is hereby created the, office of the Assistant City Secretary of
the City of West University Place, Texas; the Assistant City Secretary shall be
appoin"'ted by the City Commission upon recommendation of' the City Manager, and
shall hold office during the pleasure of the City Commission, but subject to re-
moval at any time by the City Commission.
Section 2. The Assistant City Secretary shall assist the City Secretary in the
performance of his duties and shall work under his direction, supervision and
control. Provided" however, that said Assistant City Secretary shall have any
other authority and perform such duties as shall be designated and imposed upon
him from time to time by the City Commission and the City Secretary. The City Sec-
retary shall designate those duties and tasks for- which the'Assistant City Secre-
tary shall be responsible and shall so inform the City Commission.
Section 3. The Assistant City Secretary shall execute and deliver to the City of
West University Place a good and sufficient suretYi.bond in the sum of $5,000.00,
same to be executed by a surety company haVing a permit to do business in the
State of Texas, being a local agent 'tdth residence in Harris County, Texas, and
which has complied with all of the requirements of the laws of said State, which .
said surety shall be satisfactory to the City Commission.
Section 4. All ordinances, resolutions, or motions heretofore approved in conflict
vTith this ordinance are hereby expressly repealed.
Section 5. The fact that the City Secretary may be absent for reason of illness"
,vacation or out of the City in performance of other duties and:further, that author-
ity heretofore passed on this subject is somewhat antiquated" creates an emergency
and an imperative public necessity by reason of which it is essential that this
ordinance take effect immediately upon its passage and approval. This ordinance
shall therefore take effect and be in force immediately from and after the date
of its passage and approval.
