SETl'ING '!BE SCHEDULE OF RA1YS TO BE CHARGED FOR WAiER DELIVERED 'ID USERS BY THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSI'lY PLACE;DESIG- n mGA RESIDENTIAL RATE AND A COMMERCIAL RATE AND SETTING uP PROVISION FOR THE COLLEC'l'ION OF ALL DELINQUENT WA.'lER ACCOUNTS AND THE FURNISHING OF -SERVICE "IN CONNECTION 1l1W'fJ!iWTTH BY PRo- ' VIDING FOR THE ARRANGEMENT OF D:tsCOUNT ON SUCH CHARGES AND ES TABLISHING AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE EQUAL '10 1.0%' OF THE NET AMOUNT OF EACH AND EVERY BILL WHERE SUCH BIU, IS NOT PAID WITHIN TEN (10) DAYS FROM THE DATE OF BILLING AND FURTHER PROVIDING FOR A MINIMUM CHARGE TO BE EFFmTIVE WHERE FINAL DISCONTINUANCE OF SERVICE IS REQUESTED AND SERVICE-' IS TERMINATED-. o WHEREAS" the City of West University Place has been furnishing and selling water 1;0 residen1;s' or persons doing business inside or outside the corporate limits of the City of West Univers11;y Place under the provisions of Ordinance No. 4h4 passed and approved the 10th day of January,' 1949, and amended by Ordinance No. 6,36 passed and approved the 23rd day of March, 19'3; and 'WBEREAS;tlie need exists for the revision of the schedule of rates to be charged for such service, such revision being necessary to defray the increased costs of .furnishing and maintaining such service; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that it is necessary and equitable to establish different schedules of rates for residential users and commercial users. o NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLA.CE, 'lEXAs: 1. ihat Ordinance No. 636 amending Ordinance No. 444 be" and it is hereby_in all things repealed. 2. ihat Section 1 of Ordinance No. 4h4 be hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1: ~t from and after the first meter reading date of the month of February" 19>6~ the fQllowingschedule of water rates shall apply to all consUlllers:, . RESIDENTIAL RATE: Minimum monthly charge, $1.,0 for the first h.,ooo gallons or less Next 6,,000 gallons at 2>; per 1,000 All in excess of first 10,,000 at 20; per 1,000 gallons COMMERCIAL RATE: Minimum monthly charge, $2.00 for the first 3,000 gallOns or less Next 97,000 gallQns at 25; per 1,000 All in excess of first 100_000- gallons 20; per 1,,000 gallons o 5r;~ ] By the term ttminimuDi chargelt is meant the minimum charge of $1..$0 or #2.00, as the case may be, which will be charged every water user, whether 'such user uses none, to four thousand. gallons of water in the case of residential user or uses none to three thousand gallons of water in the case of the commercial user. By the term "residential ra ten is meant. the charge to be assessed for water in or at a building which is then being used as a dwelling place only ~ J By the term "commercial rate" is meant the charge to be assessed for water furnished _to those water users who are receiving and are , using water in or at any other place or building which is not used as a dwelling place only. An additional charge equal to 10% of the net amount af each and every bill, and which when added to the said net amouni; will. appear as the "Grosslt amount due on each statement, will be assessed and levied in such instance whereu payment is not made within ten (10) days from the date or the billing at the Ci't1 Hall of the City or West University- Place, or if the, water user has mailed a check or money order in payment , of such bill, where the envelope containing such check or money order is not postmarked within ten days or the billing date, or has insuffi- cient postage. 3. That Section 2 of Ordinance No. hh4 be hereby- amended to read' as follows: ;- Section 2: 'Where water user, tenders cash or check or money order atter ten days from the date of billing, in the net amount billed, such payment will be accepted only as a credit on the total water bill, and the balance due will be added to the next month I s bill. 4. That Section 3 of OrdinanceNo.44h be and it is hereby repealed and held to be no longer in force and effect. S. .A1l ordinances or parts of ordinances which are in conflict with the schedule of rates set torth hereinabove are hereby repealed insofar as such 'conflict ~sts. 6., This ordinance' shall take effect and be in foree from, and af'ter its passage and approval.
