ORDINANCE NO. 678
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE ARREST AND DETENTION OF SUSPICIOUS PERSONS
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WEST
UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That from and after the effective date hereof policemen of
the City of West University Place shall have the right to arrest and
interrogate all persons of suspicious demeanor, character or conduct
found on the squares, streets or bridges, of any public place or thorough-
fare, or in, upon or about public or private buildings or premises, where
they have no rightor permission to be,and if such persons do not give a
satisfactory account of themselves, and the police officer has good reason
to believe that such persons intend or are about tp commit or have committed
anyviolation of the laws or ordinances of the Citybf West University Place,
it is hereby made the duty of such officer to take such persons into custody,
or if necessary, for their safekeeping, to put them in the City jail, and
at the earliest time practicable bring them, with all the evidence and proofs
applicable to their case, before the Corporation Court for investigation
and hearing.
Section 2. That this Ordinance be and it shall become effective from
and after the date. of its passage and approval.
