AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 222 OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY
PLACE, TEXAS, WHICH IS AN ORDINANCE KNOWN GENERALLY AS THE "HEALTH AND
SANITARY CODE FOE/. THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS", BY PRO-
VIDING TF~T A1JL FE'RSONS EMPLOYED IN ANY ESTABLISHMENT OR BUSINF.BS HOUSE
BY WHOM FOOD SWFFS OR DRINKS FOR HUi{iAN BEINGS ARE PRODUCED,HANDLF.J),
J;'REPARED, CARED FOR, DISPENSED, OR SOLD SHALL OBTAI lJ A CERTIFICATE SHOll-
ING FREEDOM FROM ANY INDICATION OF ACTIVE PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS;
PROVIDING THAT THE NEED FOR SUCH ORDINANCE CREATES AN EMERGENCY AND
FURTHER PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY
PLACE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That Article VII of Urdinance No. 222 of the City of West
University Place, Texas, heretofore duly passed by the City Commission of
said City on the 28th day of July, 1941, be and it is hereby amended by adding
Section 1 (1) IICERTIFICATES OF FREEDOM FROlvr INDICATIONS OF ACTIVE PULMONARY
TUBERCULOSIS,.I to Article VII, reading as follows:

Every employee of any establishment or business in the City of West
University Place,. ~exas, being employed in the business of producing,
handling, preparing, caring for, dispensing, or selling food stuffs
or dri~s for human beings at the effective date of this Act shall
within 30 days hereafter, and every person hereafter employed from
the effective date of this ordinance shall within 30 days from the
date of such employment obtmn and at all times be able to display
for public inspection at the place of emp~oym~nt a certificate from
an approved x-ray laboratory certifying that such employee is free
from any indication of active pulmonary tuberculosis. Such certificates
shall be renewed annually thereafter."
Section 2. Said Ordinance No. 222 as hereby amended is hereby
confirmed in its entirety and this ordinance shall in no way affect, 'alter,
or change any of the provisions thereof except as herein expressly stated.
Section 3. The fact that there is not at this time any provision
in the City's sani,tary code for the obtaining of certificates of freedom
from tuberculosis by employees in establishments and business as hereinbefore
set forth, creates an emergency and it is therefore ordained that this
ordinance sh,all take effect and be in full force from and after the date of
its passage by the Commission, approval by the Mayor, and publication as
provided by law.
