AN ORDINANCE FINDING THE NECESSITY FOR AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 20 OF THE CITY OF "iVEST U}ITVERSITY
PLA.CE, TEXAS, AND AMENDING THE SAME BY AUTHORIZING
THE MAYOR TO OFFER FOR AND ON BEHAIF OF THE CITY OF
vVEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS, A STANDING REWARD OF
TWO HUND;RED DOLLARS FOR THE ARREST, AND GON1EICTION OF
ANY PERSON GUILTY OF ARSON COMMITTED IN THE CITY OF
WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXA$; REPEALING ALL PRIOR
ORDINANCES WITH LIKE SUBJECT~MA.TTER, AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 20 of the City of West University Place,
Texasctoes not comply with the requirements of the Stite Board of Fire
Insurance Commissioners insofar as the reward offered for the arrest and con-
viction of any person guilty of arson~coriunitted in the City of West University
Place, Texas, as prescribed in Ordinance No. 20 is only the sum of $100.00, and
therefore insufficient; and

West University Place, Texas to conform the offered reward Ln such cases to
the reward as prescribed by the State Board'of Fire Insurance Commissioners: Ii

NOW THEREFORE, U
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
"iVEST UNIVERSITY PlACE, . TEXAS:
Section 1. That there is found a necessity by the City Commission
of the City of West University Place, Texas, to conform the existing ordinance
offering a reward for the arrest and conviction of any person guilty of arson
in the Ci~ of West University Place, Texas, to the requirements of the State
Board of Fire Insurance Commissioners.
Section 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to offer for and
on behalf of the City of West University Place, Texas, a standing reward of
TWe HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00), payable to the person or persons who shall be
responsible for the arrest and conviction of any person guilty of arson
committed in the City of West University Place, Texas.

Section 3. That all prior ordinances covering the subject-matter
of this Ordinance and all prior ordinances or any part or parts thereof that
are in conflict herewith, be and the same are hereby repealed.
Section h. For the protection of public and~rivate property, ,
the immediate passage of this Ordinance is a matter of imperative public
necessity and constitutes an emergency, and therefore this Ordinance shall
become effective immediately upon its passage, approval by the Mayor and
publication as required by law.
