AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 532 AND CHANGING
THE 1951 BUDGET OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PrACE,
TEXAS~ IN SUCH MANNER AS TO APPROPRIATE 4ND ALLOCATE
CERTAIN FUNDS TO THE CIVILIAN DEFENSE FuND, AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, since the adoption of the 1951, budget of the City of
West University Place, Texas, as shown by Ordinance No. 532 passed by the
City Commission of the City of West University Place, Texas, on the 22nd day
of August, 1950, arid approved on the same date by the Mayor of said City,
there has been created by Ordinance No. ~ passed by the City Commission of
the City of West University Place, Texas, and approved by the Mayor on the
8th day of January, 1951, an auxiliary police force for the purpose of pro-
viding for Civilian Defense, and which said auxiliary police force nor the
costs of maintaining same were contemplated by the 1951 budget of saig City; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of West University Place,
Texas, after due consideration, has determined the necessity for providing for
such auxiliary police force in the 1951 budget of said City; and
WHEREAS, Section 8 of Article XIV of the City Charter provides
that the City Commission may revise, alter, increase or decrease the items of
the budget; and
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Commission of the City of West
University Place, Texas, that the anticipated revenues from penalty and
interest that will accrue on delinquent taxes will be greater than the sum
of $750.00 and will be at least $1750.00;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS:

Section L"That. the 1951 budget of the City of West University
Place, Texas, be amended, and same is hereby amended, to increase the antici-
pated and actual revenues from penalty and interest on delinquent taxes to the
sum of.$1750.00.
Section 2. That the 1951 budget of'the City of West University
Place, Texas, be amended, and same is hereby amended so as to include therein
an item of expenditure to be known as Civil Defense Fund in the amount of
$1000.00.
Section 3. It appearing to the City Commission that the
~budgetary amendment hereby~made constitutes a public emergency, this Ordinance
shall therefore be passed finally on the data of its introduction-this the
8th day of January, 1951, and shall take effect immediately upon its passage
and approval by the :Mayor.
