AN ORDINANCE CALLING A GENERAL CITY ELECTION FOR THE CITY OF
WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS, FOR NOVEMBER 7, 1950; PRESCRIBING
THE FORM OF NarICE TO BE GIVEN OF SUCH ELECTION; PRESCRIBING
THE FORM OF AFFIDAVIT TO BE EXECUTED AND FILED BY ALL CANDI-
DATES IN SUCH ELECTION; DESIGNATING THE LOCATION OF POLLING
PLACES; NAMING THE ELECTION JUDGES OF VarING PRECL~CTS AND
FIXING THEIR COMPENSATION.

WHEREAS, Article VII, Section 6 of the Charter of the City of
West University Place requires the giving of thirty (30) dayst notice of
regular.city election, and
WHEREAS, Article VII, Section 3 of said Charter provides that a
regular city election for the purpose of electing a Mayor and four Com-
missioners shall be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in
November in alternate years following the year 1942, said Tuesday falling
this year on November 7, 1950, and
WHEREAS, it is now required that all candidates in all elections
within this State sign a prescribed form of affidavit as a prerequisite
to being permitted to have their names placed upon any ballot, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to designate the polling places to be
used in said election and to name election judges and to provide for their
compensation;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE,IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS,

A regular city election for the purpose of electing a Mayor and
four Commissioners of the City of West University Place, Texas, shall be
held on November 7, 1950.
II.
Notice of the holding of said election shall be made by the
posting by the Chief. of Police of tl;1e City of West University Place, Texas,
of the fact that such election is being held, in three public places within
the City of West University Place, Texas, one of which shall be at the
City Hall of said City, and by publishing notice thereof duly signed by
the Mayor of the City of West University Place, Texas, in one issue of the
official newspaper of the City of West University Place, Texas, at least
thirty (30) days prior to November 7, 1950.
III.
Each candidate who desires to have his name placed upon the
official ballot for the city election of the City of West University Place, II
in addition to following the Charter requirements of the City of West Uni- I I
versity Place, Texas, shall not less than thirty (30) full days prior to '-,.--J

the November 7, 1950, election execute and file with the City Secretary
of the City of West University Place, Texas, the following affidavit:

present representative form of government, and if e-

sentative form of government and will resist any effort

and of the State of Texas.

IV.
The polling places for the regular city election of the City of
West University Place, Texas, for the November 7, 1950, election shall be
at the following locations within the City of West University Place, Texas:
Precinct 87 -- 5324 Kirby Drive
Precinct 13J - West Uni versityPlace, Texas Elementary
ScItool located at 3756 University Blvd.

The following persons are designated to serve as election judges
at the general city election of November 7, 1950:,

VI.
, Said election judges shall be paid in accordance with the seale
set forth in Arti81e2943 of the RevisedCi viI Statutes of Texas.
