HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 467 - ORD Amending ORD 330 Passed & approved January2, 1947 a.IJ..JI" ... __ .._ _~_:.. _" :_~;..""_ ~~T ~ 7.4 ORDINANCE NO. 467 AN ORDINANCE,AMENDING ORDmANCE NO. 330, PASSED AND APPROVED JANUARY 2, 19h7, WITH REFERENCE TO THE OFFICE OF ,CITY ENGINEER, BY AMENDING THE CAPTION THEREqF TO -PROVIDE FOR COMPENSATION OF THE CITY ENGINEER, AND BY AMENDING SECTION 2 TO PROVIDE FOR A MONTHLY SALARY, AND AMENDING SECTION 3 TO PRESCRIBE THE DUTIES OF THE OFFICE; CONTINUING SAID ORDINANCE NO. 330 IN EFFECT AS AMENDED AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. :] WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of West University Place, Texas, by its Ordinance No. 330, passed and approved January 2, 1947, created and established the office of CityEngine~r, and prescribed the compensation and duties of the City Engineer; and WHEREAS, the City Commission has since considered it advisable to _ employ a full-time Engineer for said office in lieu of outside Engineers employed;on a part-time or contract basis; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WEST uNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS: Section 1. That the caption of Ordinance No. 330'heretofore duly and regularly passed and approved January 2, 1947, 'be and the same hereby is amended to read as follows: - "Ordinance No. 330~ An ordinance establishing and creating the office of City Engineer arid prescribirig the compensation, powers, privileges and dutiel3 of the City Engine~r. It Section 2. That Section 2 of said ordinance No. 330 be and is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 2.' From and after the first day of April, 1949, ~he salary of the City Engineer shall be $400.00 per month, payable in equal installments on the first and 15th days of each calendar month for services performed during the fifteen day period next preceding the date of each respective payment." Section 3. That Section 3 of said Ordinance No. 330 be and is hereby amended to read as follows: iJ "Section 3. The powers, privileges and duties of the office of City, Engineer'sha11 be those normally exercised and performed by a City Engineer, and as directed'from time to time by the City Com- mission and the City Secretary, or by either thereof." Section 4. Ordinance No. 330 is continued in effect as amended hereby. Section 5. The fact that no official amendment has been made of I\I,IJ record to said Ordinance No. 330 since the decision that the office of City Engineer shall be on a full-time salary basis creates a pub,tic emergency and 1"75 ~I therefore this ordinance shall be passed finally on the' date of its intro- duction and shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval by I the Mayor. --< ,PASSED this 13th day of June, 1949.
