HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 412 - ORD Appropriating Sum $5000 Fund Street Implrovment Bond Series 1948 ;"2-1 npnIIl/ANCE NO_ 412 \ , AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $5,500.00 OUT OF THE 'FUND TO THE CREDIT OF STREET IMPROVEN1ENT BONDS SERIES 1948, IN THE CITY TREASURY TO PAY THE CITY'S AGREED CONTRIBUTION TOWARD THE COST, OF STREET IMPROVEMENTS ON ACADEMY STREET BETWEEN THE NORTH LINE OF SOUTHWES,TEffilrS1REEr AND THE SOUTH LINE OF UNIVERSITY BOULEVARD, UNDER DIRECT CONTRACTS BE- TWEEN THE RESPECTIVE PROPERTY OWNERS AND BROGAN & WILLIAMS, CONTRACTOR, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Commission" that owners of property between intersections on Academy Street from the north line of Bel1aire Boulevard to the South line of University Boulevard have been and are negotiating with Brogan & Williams, Contractors, for the' pavement of said street by contract direct-between s~id Contractor and said respective property owners, and that properties on Academy Street are platted so that the longer side of the respective lots on Acadenty"Streetabutsthereon; and,the'- City has been requested to contribute a portion of the cost of such pavement to and for the benefit of each respecti,-ve property owner; and the City Trea- surer has duly and regularly certified that t..l1ere is in the City Treasury to the credit of Street Improvement Bonds Series 1948, not appropriated for any other purpose and available for appropriation for the purpose stated the' sum of $5,500.00 being the approximate maximum aggregate of the City's pro- posed contribution to and for such respective properties, assuming that each of said respective properties on Academy Street, within the limits describeq, is entitled to such contribution; NOW, THEREFORE: ....., I BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS: Section 1a That there is hereby appropriated out of the fund to the credit of Street Improvement Bonds Series 1948, in the City Treasury the various respective sums each in an amount equal to 25% of the cost of paving that por- tion of Academy Street abutting each respective lot thereon, the long side of which abuts the street and where the house also sides, instead of fronting', said street; the maximum aggregate of each said respective sums being $5,500.00 and which sum is hereby appropriated to pay the City's contribution to the cost on Academy Street from the North line of Soutmestem'~S:tre&h to the South line of University Boulevard. Section 2. The Mayor and City Treasurer are hereby authorized to draw warrants against the said fund_so appropriated as may be necessary to separately pay and discharge the obligations of the City in the amount of its specified contributions to and for said respective abutting properties entitled to contribution ,as may be directed by separate ordinance. -: I ~tion"",3.
