AN ORDINANCE DIRECTING THE CITY SECRETARY' TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR
THE PERMANENT IMPROVEMENT OF:

The West one-half of ACADIDJ~ STREET from the So~th line of
Lot 14, Block 21, COLONIAL TERRACE ADDITION, to: the North
line of said Lot 14,
IN ,THE CITY OF ~~T m~IVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS, in accordance with plans
and specifications heretofore adopted therefor; said bids to be re-
ceived and filed within the time provided; directing that the advert-
isement for such bids be incorporated in and with the advertisement for
bids for the improvement of certain por.tions of the 3900 and 4100 blocks
of MARQUETTE STREET, theul00 block of VILLANOVA STREET, the 3800 and
3900 and 4100 blocks of SOUTIThVESTERN STREET and the 3900 block of
TENNYSON STREET heretofore ordered improved, and that said portion of
ACADEMY STREET be incorporated in the contract documents with reference
to said portions on said Marquette, Villanova, Southwestern and
Tennyson Streets, as an additional segregated section of work to be
covered thereby, and declaring an emergency.

WHEREAS, by its Ordinance No. 389, duly and regularly passed
June 21, 1948, the City Commission of the City of West University Place,
Texas, determined the necessity for and ordered the permanent improve-
ment of .

The West one-half of ACADEMY STREET from the South line of
Lot 14, Block 21, COLONIAL TERRACE ADDITION to the North line
of said Lot 14 in the City of West Uni versl ty Place ,Texas,
in accorda~ce with plans and specifications therein approved and adopted;
but that no contract has yet been let nor bids received for such work; and
By its Ordinance No. 394, duly and regularly passed August 23,
1948, the City Commission of the City of West University Place, Texas,
determined the necessity for and ordered the improvement of certain
portions of:
MARQUETTE STREET in the 3900 and 4100 blocks thereof; and
VILLANOVA STREET in the 4100 block; and
SOUTffWESTERN STREET in the 3800, 3900 a~d 4100 blocks thereof;
and
TENNYSON STREET in the 3900 block thereof,
in accordance with plans and specifications therein approved and adopted
and has directed ~e advertisement for bids for said work which, by said
Ordinance, is divided and separated into ten separate segregated sections

a therein set out; and

WEEREAS, the City Commission finds and deems it advisable to
advertise for and receive sealed bids for each of said improvements at
the same time and to incorporate each of such improvements in the same
contract documents and construction; Now, Therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Commission of the City of West
University Place, Texas:
Section 1. The City Secretary is hereby directed to, advertise
for sealed bids for the work and improvement on and of the above des-
crivedportions of ACADEMY STREET in accordance with the plans and speci-
fications therefor, heretofore adopted and approved; which bids may be
received by and filed with the Ci~ Secretary at and before 7:30 o'clock
P.M. ' 1948.
Section 2. That the advertisement for bids for said work on
said portion of ACAD~IT STREET shall be incorporated in and with the
advertisement for bids for the improvement of those certain portions of
Marquette, Villanova, Southwestern and Tennyson Streets, ordered improved
by Ordinance No. 394, passed and approved August 23, ,1948; and that the
bids on each of such improvements be received and filed at the same time.
Section 3. That the work and improvement with reference to
said portion of ACAD~ITSTREET shall be incorporated in the'same contract
documents concerning the work and improvement of said portions of Marquette,
Villanova, Southwestern and Tennyson Streets, and as a further separate '
and segregated section in said contract, each and all of whi~h sections
shall be separate and distinct units, wholly unrela~ed to and independent
of each other section.
Section 4. The fact that each of the portions of the respective
streets hereinabove mentioned are in need of improvement as promptly as
possible, creates a public emergency, arid therefore, this Ordinance shall
be passed finally on the date of its introduction this 23rd day of August,
1948, and shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval by
the Mayor.
