HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 379 - ORD Appropriating $45000 Credit to the Street Paving and Bonding 1946 JI I L 15,6 ORDINANCE NO. m AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $4500.00 OUT OF THE FUND TO THE CREDIT OF STREET PAVING AND BRIDGE BONDS, 1946, IN THE CITY TREASURY TO PAY THE CITY'S AGREED CONTRIBUTION TOWARD THE COST OF STREET IMPROVEMENTS ON ACADEMY STREET BETWEEN THE NORTH LINE OF UNIVERSITY BOULEY ARD .AND THE SOUTH LINE OF RICHMOND'ROAD, UNDER DIRECT CONTRACTS BETWEEN THE RESPECTIVE PROPERTY OWNERS AND BROGAN & WILLIAMS, CONTRACTOR, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. :l LJ 'WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the CityCommiss:llon that owners of property between intersections on ACademy Street from the ' north line of University Boulevard to the South'line of Richmond Road have been and are, negotiating with Brogan & Williams, Contractors, for the pavement of said street by contract direct between said contractor and said respective property owners, and that properties on Academy Street ~e'plated so that the longer side of the respective lots on Academy Street abuts thereon; and the City has been requested to contribute a portion of the cost of' such pavement to and for the benefit of each respective property owner; and the City Treasurer has duly and regularly certified that there is in the City Treasury to the credit of street ~aving and Bridge Bonds, 1946, not appropriation for the purpose stated the sum of $4500.00, being the approximate maximum aggregate of the City's proposed, contribution to and for such respective properties, assuming that each of sald'respective properties on Academy Street, within the limits described, is entitled to ' such contribution; NOW, THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS: , I , I I U Section 1. That there is, hereby appropriated out of the fUnd to the credit of Street,Paving and Bridge Bonds, 1946, in the City Treasury the various respective sums each in. an amount equal to 25% of !Jhe cost of paving that portion of Academy Street abutting each respective lot thereon, the long side of wb~ch abuts the'street and where the house also sides, instead of fronting; said street; the maximum aggregate of each said respective sums being $4500.00 and which sum. is hereby appropriated to pay the City's contribution to the cost on ACademy Street from'the north line of University Boulevard to the south line of Ri~hmond Road. Section 2: The Mayor and City Treasurer are hereby authorized to draw warrants aga1nst,the said fund,so appropriated as may be necessary,to separately pay and discharge the obligations of theo'City in !-he, amount ?f its specified contributions to and for said respect~!e abuttmg propert~es entitled to contribution as may be directed by separate ordinance. Section 3: The fact that said Academy Street, within the limits defined and each portion thereof abutting each r~spective lot referred to, is in need of improvement as promptly as possible; and the 'fact that contract has heretofore been let for the paving of intersections on Academy Street, within the limits stated, create a public emergen~y, and, therefore, this Ordinance shall be passed finally on the date of ~ts .
