AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SEIZING AND IMPOUNDING OF AUTOMOBILES
OR OTHER MOTOR VEHICLES BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE OR OTHER POLICE OFFICER
WHEN SUCH VEHICLE IS OPERATED BY A PERSON FAILING TO HAVE A DRIVER'S
LICENSE OR WHEN SUCH ~ICLE IS OPERATED IN A RECKLESS MANNER, OR WHEN
SUCH VEHICLE IS IN A DEFECTIVE CONDITION: AND PROVIDING FOR A $10.00
IMPOUNDING FEE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY
PLACE, TEXAS:

From and after the effective date of this Ordinance, the Chief of Police
or ather.,,!x)licehofficer of this City shall have the right and is hereby granted
the authority to pick up and immediately impound any automobile or motor ve-
hicle which is being operated by a person who 'does not have in his possession
a currently valid driver's license or when such motor vehicle is being operated
in a careless manner, or when such vehicle is in a defective condition which
would threaten the safety of the public.

All vehicles seized and impounded under this Ordinance shall be held by
the Police Department of the City until the owner of same furnishes proper
evidence of his ownership of same, and fumishes a Cash or Surety Bond in
sufficient amount to insure his presence, and that of the offending partY" in
the Corporation Court of this City. Before releasing. any automobile or other
vehicle impounded under this Ordinance, the Police Department shall col1ect a
$10.00 impounding fee which is assessed for the purpose of defraying cost of
enforcing this Ordinance.
III
All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict hereWith, or any part
hereof are repealed insofar as such conflict or conflicts exist only.
