RECTING A TYPOGRAPHICAL ERROR APPEARING IN SUCH PRINTED CHARTER;'
PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION HEREOF; REQUIRING THE CITY SECRETARY
TO VIAlL A COPY OF THE PROPOSED Al1El'IDMEl\.lTS TO EVERY QUALIFIED VOTER
IN THE CITY AS APPEARS FROM THE TAX COlLECTOR'S ROLLS FOR THE YEAR
E11DING JANUARY 3l, 1944; AND PROVIDING THAT IF ANY PART OR PARTS OF
THIS ORDINANCE BE INVALID, THE INVALIDITY OF SUCH PART OR PARTS SHALL
NOT IN A11Y HANNER EFFECT ANY OTHER .PART OR PARTS HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY TEE CITY COMMISSION OF TEE CITY OF WEST UNI-
VERSITY PLACE, TEXAS:

That on July 22, 1944, between the hours of seven O'clock
A.M. and seven O'clock P.M., at the regular voting places within
the city limits of the City of West University Place, Texas, there
shall be held a special city election for the purpose of submitting
to the voters of the Qity of West University Place, the following
questions or propositions, to wit:.
1. .. Shall the City of West University Place, Texas,
amend Sections 1, 2, '6, 13, 15, 16 and 19 of Art-
icle IV; Sections l, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9
of Article !Va; Sections 5 and 7 of Article V;
Sections 2, 3 and 4 of Article VII; S~ctions 9
and 10 of Article VIII; Sections 1, 2, 4, 5 and 8
of Article XIV; and Section 7 of Article rlIII as
shown by proposed amendments contained in official
copy of such ,suggested amendments on file in the
City Hall, a copy of which proposed amendments has
been mailed to the voters of the City?
2. Shall the City of West University Place, Texas,
amend Section 14 of Article III; Section 2 of
Article IX; Section 1 of Article XII; Sections
4 and 8 of Article XIII; ~ection 6 of Article XV;
Section 1 of Arti cle XXVI; and change Article "IXtf
on page 27 of the printed Home Rule Charter of the
City bearing the title ftDepartment of Personnel"
to Article "XIX" for the purpose of correcting a
ty~ographical' error in the numbering of such

Article, all as shown by proposed amendments
contained in official copy of such suggested
amendments on f,ile in the City Hall, a copy of
which proposed amendments has been mailed to the
voters of the Cit y?,

That there shall be prepared under the direction of the City
Secretary ballots to be used in such election on which shall be
, printed the two above propositions or questions to be voted upon,
all in DOP10rmity with all state laws and provisions of the Charter
of the City so that the voters of the City may vote for or against
either o,r both of said two propositions or questions.
III
That this ordinance shall be published in the Houston Press,
the official newspaper of the City, on or before June 20, 1944.
IV
That the City Secretary shall, on or before June 20, 1944,
mail a copy of such proposed amendments to the City's Charter to
every qualified voter in the City of West University Place as ap-
pears from the tax collector's rolls for the year ending January
3l, 1944, and shall retain in his possession as an official record
the original signed copy of such proposed amendments.

That "if for any reason any part or parts of this ordinance
be invalid, such invalidity of such part or parts shall not in any
manner effect the validity of any other part or parts hereof.
PASSED ArID APPROVED this the 16th day of June, A.D. 1944,
by a vote of ~ayes and .1:...noes. '
