CITY COUNCIL ACTION MINUTES
The City Council of the City of West University Place, Texas, met in special meeting on Monday,
December 24, 2018, in the Municipal Building, located at 3800 University, West University Place.
Mayor Sample called the meeting to order at approximately 9:05 a.m. in the Council Chambers. Council
and Staff in attendance were: Mayor Pro Tem Turner, Councilmembers Burke, Higley, and Boyle, City
Manager Peifer, City Secretary Gilliam, and Human Resources Director Urban.
Caroline Larsson, with Girl Scout Troop 146153, led the Pledge of Allegiance.
1. Convene into Executive Session (Council Conference Room)
Notice is hereby given that the City Council will convene into executive session in accordance with the
following provisions of Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code:
At approximately 9:07 a.m., Councilmember Higley moved to recess the special meeting and convene
into executive session (in the Council Conference Room) per Section 551.074 of the Texas
Government Code to deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties,
discipline, or dismissal of the city manager’s position. Councilmember Burke seconded the motion.
MOTION PASSED.
Ayes: Sample, Turner, Boyle, Burke, Higley
Noes: None
Absent: None
2. Reconvene Special Meeting
Matters related to reconvening the executive session to further discuss selection of a candidate.
At approximately 10:04 a.m., Mayor Sample closed the executive session and reconvened the special
meeting.
No Action Taken.
3. Adjourn
Mayor Sample adjourned the special meeting at approximately 10:05 a.m.
