CITY COUNCIL ACTION MINUTES
The City Council of the City of West University Place, Texas, met in a special meeting on Tuesday,
December 18, 2018, in the Municipal Building, 3800 University, West University Place.
The special meeting convened at approximately 12:00 noon in the Council Chambers. Council and Staff
in attendance were: Mayor Pro Tem Turner, Councilmembers Burke, Higley, and Boyle, City Secretary
Gilliam, and Human Resources Director Urban
The three final candidates considered for the city manager’s position and Mike Tanner with SGR
Consultants were also present.
1. Convene into Executive Session (Council Conference Room)
Notice is hereby given that the City Council will convene into executive session in accordance with the
following provisions of Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code:
Council recessed the special meeting and convened into executive session per Section 551.074 of the
Texas Government Code to deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment,
duties, discipline, or dismissal of the city manager’s position.
At approximately 12:45 p.m., Council recessed the executive session and each councilmember met
one-on-one with each candidate.
At approximately 3:45 p.m., Council reconvened the executive session to meet with one of the
candidates who would not be available for Wednesday’s session.
2. Reconvene Workshop
Matters related to any action resulting from the executive session.
Approximately 4:30 p.m., Mayor Sample reconvened the workshop. No Action Taken.
3. Adjourn Workshop
Mayor Sample adjourned the workshop at approximately 4:31 p.m.
