RESOLUTION NO. 2019 -17
SUPPORTING THE METRONEXT PLAN AND THE DECISION OF THE BOAF
OF DIRECTORS TO SEEK APPROVAL FOR (A) THE ISSUANCE OF BOND
NOTES AND OTHER OBLIGATIONS IN AN AGGREGRATE PRINCIPI
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $3.5 BILLION FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF TF
METRONEXT PROGRAM AND (B) THE EXTENSION OF THE MOBILI-
PAYMENTS TO THE MULTI - CITIES AS PROVIDED IN METRO RESOLUTIC
2019 -71 PARAGRAPH 16 (B) AND MAKING FINDINGS AND PROVISIOl'
RELATIVE TO THE SUBJECT.
WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas (M
created pursuant to Chapter 141 of the 63 d Legislature of the State of Texas, Regula
1973 (Article 118x, Vernon Texas Civil Statutes, as amended, now codified as Che
Transportation Code, as amended (the Metro Act) and was confirmed at the confirm
tax election held on August, 12, 1978, in accordance with the Metro Act; and
WHEREAS by way of Metro Resolution 20019 -71 the Metro Board of Director;
on August 13, 2019 a comprehensive regional transit plan known as MetroNe)
acquisition, construction, repair, equipping, improvement and/or extension of Metrc
system; and
WHEREAS Metro Resolution 2019 -71 further continues the dedication of 2
sales and use tax revenues for street improvements and general mobility projects thro+
and
WHEREAS Metro has participated in numerous meetings with stakeholders,
and civic groups, public officials and members of the public to provide information ar
the public's views regarding MetroNext; and
WHEREAS the City has carefully reviewed MetroNext and finds that MetroN
the best framework for the development of transit services and mobility that wil
regional needs at this time; and
WHEREAS, by way of Metro Resolution 2019 -71, the Metro board of Dire
called an election to be held on November 5, 2019 to determine the voter's will on the
of bonds, notes and other obligation for the implementation of MetroNext, includin
continued dedication of 25% of its sales and use tax revenues for street improven
general mobility projects through 2040;
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE THAT:
Section 2. This resolution is effective immediately upon passage.
