ORDINANCE NO. 2076
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WES
UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS SUSPENDING SECTION 2 -4 OF THE WES
UNIVERSITY PLACE CODE OF ORDINANCES RELATING TO TH
COMPENSATION FOR THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
WHEREAS, Section 2.04 of the City Charter of the City of West Universit
Texas (the "City ") provides that the Mayor and Council Members shall be er
compensation as established by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2.04 of the City Charter, the City Cou
previously adopted Section 2 -4 of the City's Code of Ordinances, establishing the
compensation for the Mayor and Council Members as $400 for the Mayor and
each Council Member; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to permit the Mayor or any Council ME
suspend payment of his or her compensation during the current City Council term.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1. The recitals set forth above are found to be true and correct.
Section 2. Section 2 -4 of the Code of Ordinances of the City is suspend
that no compensation shall be paid to the Mayor or any Council Member who files
request to suspend compensation with the City Secretary.
Section 3. The suspension of Section 2 -4 of the Code of Ordinances of
as to the Mayor or any Council Member shall extend from the date of the filin
request with the City Secretary until the conclusion of the current City Council term,
2021.
Section 4. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this Oi
are repealed to the extent of the conflict only.
Section 5. If any word, phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph, section or o
of this Ordinance or the application thereof to any person or circumstance, shall
held to be invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, n6
remainder of this Ordinance, nor the application of such word, phrase, clause, sl
paragraph, section or other part of this Ordinance to any other persons or circum
shall be affected thereby.

Section 7. This Ordinance takes effect immediately upon its passz
adoption on second reading.
