Also discussed the F a t h e r ’ s and Flashlight event, stated that it had netted approximately $ 8 5 , 0 0 0 . V . West Uni versity Place Fi rst Responder Appreciation & Pu blic Safety Awareness Day :Event Chair Peter Billipp discussed the event and stated that the event went great. Hopes to pin down a date for next year and to have a local celebrity guest to attend the function.CERT did not accept the funds as it d o e s n ’ t have a conduit to accepts such donations but t h e l o c a l f i r s t r e s p o n d e r r e c e i v e d g i f t c a r d s a n d w e r e g r e a t l y a p p r e c i a t i v e . V I . B oard Member Updates . Melissa asked the Board for any relevan t updates . Mark asked a question regarding East side of Weir Park. Asked about the pea gravel that is located there. Wanted to know whether it made sense to grass-over. Susan and Tim were not aware of why it was there . Susan to determine whether it makes sense to replace with grass or turf. Stephen stated that he had encountered some roaches in changing room in Recreation Center. Susan will let facilities know and discuss with person that does pest c o n t r o l . V I I . Council Update . Council Member Turner was not in attendance. Relayed via Tim that no r e l e v a n t a c t i v i t y a n d t h a t s h e w i l l b e i n a t t e n d a n c e i n J a n u a r y . Director Update . Susan and Tim gave an update on Hughes Park. Hughes E state and City still working on determining what a “ q u i e t p a r k ” means. D iscussed request for four way stop. Susan stated that preliminary inquiry was done and it was determined that it w a s n o t w a r r a n t e d . V I I I . Parks Master Planning Issue . Nothing to report, focusing on Jennie Hughes Park . It is Parks and Recreation Board Minutes page 2 domino that comes after the development of such park. Until we know what is going on with such park, we need to table this item. Susan to check with city attorney to check to see if the master plan document needs to be updated to reflect such as Jennie Hughes Park was not in play when the master plan document was prepared . Susan stated the Huffington Park is to go up first but Tim stated that is up to the P a r k ’ s Board whether they want to c h a n g e t h e o r d e r o f t h e p a r k s t h a t a r e u p . I X . New Business . Tim asked whether the Board was good with the abbreviated reports.Board agreed the abbreviated format was great. Mark asked for date of T i m ’ s last day. He stated that is was on February 28, 2017. Tim stated that he was hoping that the city m a n a g e r w o u l d a p p o i n t h i s r e p l a c e m e n t s o o n . X . A d j o u r n m e n t .
