Call to Order : The mee ting was called to order at 6 pm by C hair Kevin Boyle . II. Approval of December 7 , 2016 Meeting Minutes : Motion to approve the m in utes was made by Me lis s a Pifko and Seco nded by Donna Petrone . Motion passed unanimously. III. Public Comments : Comments made by Alida D r ewes . West side of park at Colonial not used. Too many dogs using par ks, especially Friend’s Park. Citizen’s still demand more green space. The new park is op portunity to do such. Stated that we don’t need more play b oxes and that now that Tim is leaving this board has opportunity to think outside of box . IV. Friends Overview : Mark Prescott not in attendance, but Park Lovers ’ Ball is in next couple of weeks. V. 2018 PARD SCHEDULE : Next budget cycle up in September and October. Kevin asked for input regarding fee schedule and asked for volunteers to join the committee. Wanted to ensure that we are consistent with other municipalities. Kevin said the committee does not set fees that such is done by City C ouncil. Council member Mardi Turner reminded the Board that the fees for the sponsored program s such as Jazzercise are not set by Council. VI. B oard Member Updates . Kevin asked the Board for any relevant updates . Kevin asked for update on gates. Susan White stated that Judson gates, which are aluminum, are being fixed to add mechanism to help with self -closing. Tracey asked about Huffington and whether there had been drainage issues. Susan state d that such issues had been addressed. VII. Counci l Update . Once Liberty Hill refurbishing is done, Council Member Turner stated that she would like to have a presentation thanking Friends and those that assisted when completed . This is being funded by Friends. Hughes Park is up in air depending on wh at “quiet park” means. Melissa asked about the library and Turner stated th at it probably won’t be ready until March. Re -election for City Council member is coming up. A question was aske d regarding the Town Center and whether parking was going to be a ddressed. Council Member Turner member discussed such and stated the Code Red is Parks and Recreation Board Minutes page 2 going away and Swift is being adopted. Director Update . Susan White discussed Liberty Hill. The department had initially wanted to handle internally but they have had to hire an engineer to assist. Susan is giving report in Tim’s absence. Noted that Tim’s last day is the 28 th . She discussed the West U Big Belly West Project that is being funded by the Fun Run. Board members gave input to Susan and it was recommended that it be shown to kids to receive additional input. She asked that any additionally comments be emaile d to her by next Monday. Susan noted that Tennis Committee is meeting on Monday, Melissa to attend as well. She stated that they are going to address a variety of issues. Stephen suggested that a net be added on the double court s as some of the singl e court are used more for kid lesson s as the balls are kept in place. He suggested nets between double courts like the city of Houston tennis courts. VIII. Old Business . Nothing to report . IX. New Business . Kevin asked whether a March meeting should be conducted an d he suggested that we have one only if there were items to discuss. Council member Turner asked what was being done for Tim. Kevin stated that he is to be recognized at Park Lover’s Ball. Peter stated that he had expressed an interest in getting a Brian Cushing jersey and he said he could handle. Kevin to purchase such for signature. X. Adjournment . M eeting convened at 7:04 pm .
