CITY COUNCIL ACTION MINUTES
The City Council of the City of West University Place, Texas, met in special and regular session on
Monday , June 26 , 201 7 , in the Municipal Building, 3800 University, West University Place, Texas
beginning at 6:0 0 p.m.
Agenda items are as follows:
Call ed Special Meeting to Order . Mayor Sample called the regular meeti ng to order at approximately
6:0 0 p.m. in the Council Chambers . Council and Staff in attendance were: Councilmembers Burke ,
Higley, and Turner, City Manager Peifer , City Secretary Gilliam, City Attorney Petrov, and Police Chief
Walker. Mayor Pro Tem Franklin was absent.
1. Convene into Closed Executive Session
City Council convene d into Executive Session in accordance with Chapter 551 of the Texas
Government Code , Section 551.074, to hear a security briefing from Police Chief Walker.
2. Reconvene into Special Session
Mayor Sample adjourned the closed session and reconvened the special meeting at 6:30 P.M. No
action taken.
3. Adjourn
Councilmember Higley moved to adjourn the special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Councilmember Burke
seconded the motion. MOTION PASSED.
Ayes: Sample, Burke, Higley, Turner
Noes: None
Absent: Franklin
Call ed Regular Meeting to Order . Mayor Sample called the regular meetin g to order at approximately
6:31 p.m. in the Council Chambers . Council and Staff in attendance were: Councilmembers Burke ,
Higley, and Turner, City Manager Peifer , City Secretary Gilliam, City Attorney Petrov, Public Works
Director Beach, Finance Director Kalka, and Police Chief Walker. Mayor Pro Tem Franklin was absent.
Boy Scout Max Shilstone , Troop 55 , led the Pledge .
City Secretary Gilliam confirmed that the notice of the meeting was posted in accordance with law.
4. Public Comments
This was an opportunity for citizens to speak to Council relating to agenda and non -agenda items.

5. Comprehensive Annual Financial Report
Matters related to acceptance of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. Recommended Action:
Accept Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. Mr. Marie Kalka, Finance Director
Councilmember Bob Higley m oved that City Council accept the Comprehensive Financial Report.
Councilmember Burke seconded the motion. MOTION PASSED.

Noes: None
Absent: Franklin
6 . Future Agenda Items
Matters related to future agenda items. Recommended Action: Discuss and take any desired action.

7. Consent Agenda
All Consent Agenda items listed are considered to be routine by the City Council and will be
enacted by one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these items unless a Council
member requests in which event the ite m will be removed from the Consent Agenda and
considered in its normal sequence on the agenda.

Approve Minutes .
Councilmember Turned moved to approve the Consent Agenda as presented. Councilmember
Higley seconded the motion. MOTION PASSED.
