A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE,
TEXAS, AFFIRMING THE SUSPENSION OF BUILDING PERMIT FEES
FOR HURRICANE HARVEY RELATED REPAIRS
WHEREAS, on August 24, 2017, Hurricane Harvey's impact on the Texas gulf
coast placed the City of West University Place, Texas in imminent threat of loss; and
WHEREAS, on August 24, 2017, the Mayor of the City of West University Place,
Texas issued an emergency Declaration of Disaster to protect the citizens and property
of the City; and
WHEREAS, as a result of Hurricane Harvey, there are now citizens of the City of
West University Place, Texas that need to make repairs to their property within the City;
and
WHEREAS, in order to assist the citizens of West University Place, Texas to
recover from the effects of Hurricane Harvey, the Mayor of the City on September 5,
2017 waived the building permit fees for repairs to property resulting from Hurricane
Harvey; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West University Place, Texas wishes
to support and continue the waiver of building permit fees to assist the citizens of the
City in their recovery.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the waiver of building permit fees for all work necessary to
repair or restore any property in the City to a pre- Hurricane Harvey condition is affirmed.
Section 2. That such waiver of building permit fees shall continue for sixty
(60) days after the passage of this Resolution.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its
and adoption.
