Notice of Building & Standards Commission Meeting
Notice is hereby given that the Building & Standards Commission (BSC) and members
of the City Council of the City of West University Place, Texas will hold a meeting on:
March 4, 2004
Beginning at 6:00 P.M.
In the Municipal Building, Bill Watson Conference Room,
Located at 3800 University Blvd, West University Place, Texas 77005.
The subjects of the meeting are as follows:
[Call to Order.]
1. Notices, Rules, Etc. Matters relating to notices, rules, meeting procedures and identifying
parties.
2. Meeting Minutes. Matters relating to meeting minutes from the February 5th, 2004 BSC
meeting.
3. City Council Goals. Matters relating to the discussion of City Council Goals for the
Building and Standards Commission. A) Retention of Old Stock Housing. B) Review of
Building Codes and their Uniformity with the International Building Codes. C) Review of
Building Materials for example, foundations, framing and rot resistant materials.
4. Matters Relating to the Building Standard Commission Recommendations and Status
Report. A) Update on the Fence Ordinance returned from City Council. B) Administrative
guideline on the use of double 2X4's as framing studs. C) Status and distribution of copies of
the complaint on structural engineering at 3840 Ruskin (Rosa Kym's home) with the state
licensing board. D) Update on the status of repairs at 4029 Case.
5. Foundations. Matters relating to foundations, soil testing, piers, etc. A) Report from the
workshop meeting of February 10th, 2004. B) Update on proposed draft ordinance wording
concerning soil reports, piers and foundations.
6. Old Stock Housing. Matters relating to old stock houses. A) Comments from Councilman
Mike Farley. B) Report on workshop meeting on Old Stock Housing. C) Discussion of
definitions for Old Stock Housing.
7. Roofing Materials. Matters relating to roofing materials.
8. Sign Ordinance. Matters relating to the Sign Ordinances for BSC to review the proposed
amendments that address the new state laws affecting signs.
9. First Floor Elevations verses Survey Benchmarks. Matters relating to minimum first floor
elevation, survey benchmarks and reports from staff
