VIOLATION;' PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE AND' A SAVINGS CLAUSE. Ii U BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS: Section 1: Traffic control devices located at the hereinafter designated intersections in the City of West University Place are hereby declared to be officia~'traffic contro~ devices and the City Engineer and the Chief of Po~ice shal~ place and maintafn'traffic control signs, signa~s, and devices in accord- ance with this ordinance and other traffic ordinances of this city and IJli;I.y,o;place and maintain-such additional traffic control devices as may be deemed to be necessary to regulate traffic under the traffic ordinances of this city or under - State ~aw or to guide or warn traffic; such intersection being designated as 'follows: The intersection of Buffalo Speedway at University B~vd. The 'intersection of Buffalo Speedway at Sunset Blvd. The intersection of Buffalo Speedway at Rice Blvd. The intersection of Rice Blvd. at Edloe Street. The intersection of University'B~vd. at Edloe Street. The intersection ofUniversityB~vd. at Auden Street. The intersection of Weslayan Street at Rice Blvd. The intersection of Weslayan Street at Unive~sity. Q Section 2: Whenever traffic is 'control~ed by traffic control signals exhibiting the words "Go", "Caution", or "Stop"" or' exhibiting different colored lights successively one at a time, or with arrows, the following colors only shall be useQ. and said ,termS 'and lights shall indicate and apply to drivers of vehicles and pedestrians as 'follows: (a) Green alone or "Go". (1) Vehicular traffic facing the signa~, may proceed straight through or turn right or left unless a sign at. such place prohibits either such turn. But ve- , hicular traffic, including vehicles turning right or left, shall y-iheld the right-of-way to other ve- hicles'and to, pedestrians lawfully within the in- . section or an adjacent crosswalk at the time such signal is exhibited. (l) Vehicular traffic facing such signal may enter the intersection only to make the movement indi- catedby such arrow but shal~ yield the right-of- way' to pedestrians lawfully within a crosswalk and to other traffic lawfully using the interseetion. (2) Pedestrians facing such signals may proceed across the roadway within any marked or unmarked cross- walk (unless otherwise directed by a "Wait" or "Don't walk" signal). (c) Yellow alone or "Caution" wheI;l shown following the 'green or "Go", signal. (1) Vehicular traffi(:, facing the signal is thereby warned that the red or "Stop" signal will be ex- hibited immediately thereafter. and such vehicular traffic shall not enter or be crossing the intersec- tion when the red or "Stop" signal is exhibited. [ (2) No pedestrian facing such signal shall enter the roadway until the green or "GO" is shown alone (unless authorized so to do by a pedestrian "Walk" signal). (d). Red alone or "Stop". (1) - Vehicular traffic facing the signal shall stop be- fore entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, if Ilone, then before entering the intersection and shall remain standing until green or "Go" is shewn alone. (2) No pedesttian faCing such signal. shall enter the roadway until the green or "Go" is shown alone (unless authorized se> to do bya pedestrian ''Walk'' signal). Section 4: The driver of any vehicle shall obey the instructions of 0 any official traffic control device'applicable thereto placed in accordance with this ordinance unless otherwise direct$d by a police officer, subject to the exceptions, granted the driver of authorized emergency vehicle by other Ordinances of this'city. Section 5: Any person convicted of a'''violation of any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be punished bya fine of not less than $1.00 nor more than $200.00. , , 'r. ..J_ Section 6. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed insofar as the same ar~ in actual c~:mflict only. Section 7. If any part, or parts of this ordinance be invalid for any reason, such part or parts shall in no way affect any other part or parts that are valiq.
