HomeMy WebLinkAbout090869 CC Min 1-'":1::'" F REGUIAR MEETING OF CITY COMM:ISSION SEPTEMBER 8, 1969 The City Commission of the City of West University Place convened in regular session at the City Hall on Monday, September 8, 1969, 7:30 p.m., with the following members present: Mayor Ramsey, presiding; Commissioner Neighbors, Proctor, Scott and Wallin. The City Attorney and City Manager were also present. The Invocation was pronounced by Commissioner Proctor. A Proclamation designating the week of September 17 through 23 as Constitution Week was presented to the Commission and read in full by the City Attorney. A statement of income and expenses for operation of the Swimming Pool for the season ending August 31, 1969 indicated that the total income for the season was $19,175.56, which included a transfer of $2,110.00 from the Water Fund and the total expenditures were $18,794.62, leaving an excess revenue over ex- penditures of $380.00. It was pointed out that deducting the transfer from the Water Fund would leave a deficit of $1,719.00 in the total operation of the Swimming Pool for the 1969 season. Ordinance number 928 was presented to the Commission and read in full. AN ORDINANCE AM:ENDINGORDJlIIA.NCE NUMBER' 911 AUTHORIZING " ADDITIONAL WORK AND APPROPRIATING AN ADDITIONAL AMOUNT OF $5,824.25 FROM THE.WATER FUND AND AMENDING THE 1969 BUDGET Motion by Commissioner Proctor, seconded by Commissioner Neighbors, that Ordinance Number 928 authorizing additional work to lower pumps and make necessary repairs to Water Well Nos. 3, 4 and 6, and appropriating an addi- tional amount of $5,824.25 for payment to Layne-Texas Company for such work, be approved as read. Voting Aye: All Voting No: None The Commission was advised that construction had begun on the cul-de-sac located at Academy and Ruskin and that the project should be completed within a few weeks. A recommendation from Chief of Police Harold Shipp for the installation of a "stop" sign on the southeast corner of Academy Street at the intersection with Ruskin Street, as a safety measure approaching the new cul-de-sac, was presented to the Commission. Motion by Commissioner Proctor, seconded by Commissioner Scott, that the recom- mendation of the Chief of Police for the erection of a "stop" sign on the south- east corner of Academy at the intersection with Ruskin Street, be accepted.
