CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
City Council of the City of West university Place, Texas, met in a special meeting on Thursday,
September 18, 2014. in the Municipal Building, 3800 University Boulevard, West University Place,
Texas beginning at 5:15 p.m.
Notice of Me special meeting wes duly posted in accordance with the Texas Government Code,
Chapter 551.
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Fry wiled the special meeting to order at 5:15 p.m.
Council and staff in attendance: Mayor Fry, Mayor Pm Tern Sample (anived at 5:20 p.m.),
Councilmembers Heal and Johnson, City Manager Ross, City Secretary Lenz, Assistant City
ManagedPublic Works Director Fisher, Executive Assistant Evelyn, Police Chief Walker, Finance
Director Daugherty, and Human Resources Director Standorf. Councilmember Yehle and City Attorney
Petmv were absent.
Agenda was as follows:
1. Public Hearing for Proposed Taxes
Matters related to a public hearing to hear comments on the proposed lax rate.
Recommended Action: Hold public hearing on the proposed tax rate.
City Manager Ross presented and said this is one of two required public hearings on the tax rate.
He said the City received the 2014 Certified Appraisal Roll from the County and said are estimated
taxable assessed value is $4,824,935,368.00 and that the prepared tar rate is 036179.
Mr. Ross said the 2014 tax cote for the 2015 budget year is being reduced as compared to the 2013
tax rate. He said the fax rate proposed to support the 2015 Budget is an overall 6.54 percent tax
revenue increase over the prior year due to rising property values.
Mr. Ross said the final rate will be set by ordinance on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.
With no further discussion and no comments fmm the public, Mayor Fry ctosed the Public
Hearing at 5:20 p.m.
