HomeMy WebLinkAbout081699S CC Min CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP SESSION MONDAY, AUGUST 16, 1999 MUNICIPAL BUILDING 3800 UNIVERSITY BLVD. 7:00 P.M. The City Council convened in Workshop Session in the Municipal Building (3800 University Blvd.) on August 16, 1999, with the following members present: Mayor Lewis presiding, Council Members Ballanfant, Bertini, Grubb and May. The City Manager, City Secretary and City Attorney were also present. BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS: The City Council discussed matters related to the appointment of members to the Recycling and Solid Waste Reduction Board, Neighborhood Safety Board, Parks and Recreation Board, Friends of West University Parks Fund and Senior Services Board. Executive Session : The City Council discussed matters related to the appointment of members to the Zoning Board of Adjustment, Building and Standards Commission and Zoning and Planning Commission. Closed Executive Session to be held under Section 551.074, Texas Government Code The City Council convened in Executive Session at 7:52 p.m. The City Council closed the Executive Session at 9:26 p.m. and convened in open session. RETURN THE MAILBOX: The City Council considered a request to the United States Postal Service to return the mailbox temporarily removed during construction at the intersection of Rice & Edloe. Council Member Bertini reported that the Postal Service would not return the mailbox due to the construction in the area and the potential safety hazard. The Postal Service also would not put the mailbox on private property. A motion was made by Council Member Bertini, seconded by Council Member Grubb, to direct the City Manager to send a letter to the appropriate authorities requesting that the U.S. Postal Service return the mailbox to the area as soon as possible. A vote was taken on the motion with the following result: City Council Workshop Session, August 16, 1999 Voting Aye: Mayor Lewis, Council Members Ballanfan, Bertini, Grubb and May Voting Nay: None Absent: None ADJOURNMENT: With no further business to come before the City Council at this time, a motion was made by Council Member Grubb, seconded by Council Member Bertini, to adjourn.
