AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS AMENDING
ORDINANCE NUMBER 4966, FOR PURPOSES OF ADDING HARRIS COUNTY PRECINCT
NUMBER 906 FOR THE CITY'S GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON MAY 11, 2013;
CONTAINING FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO SAID ELECTION; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City 0 West University Place, Texas has previously
adopted Ordinance Number 1966 on a general election to be held in the Ciry of West
University Place, Texas ( "Cri on May 11, 2013, and among other things, establishing the
polling place for citizens residing in all four (4) Harris County voting precincts within the City;
and
WHEREAS, an additional voting precinct, Hams County voting Precinct Number 906,
has been created within the City and needs to be included in Ordinance Number 1966 as an
additional voting precinct within the City, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West University Place, Texas now finds that 8
is necessary to amend Ordinance Number 1966 to include Hams County voting Precinct
Number 906 as a fifth (5 ") voting precinct within the City.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY
PLACE,TEXAS,THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 3(a) of Ordinance Number 1966 of the City of West University
Place, Texas, is amended to add Harris County voting Precinct Number 906 as a fifth (5'")
precinct for West University Place and voting for sad precinct will be at the combined polling
location at 38W University Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77005. All other potions of Ordinance
Number 1966 net specifically amended hereby remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of the conlict only.
SECTION 3. The City Council officially finds, determines and declares that a sufficient
written notice of the date, hour, place and subject W each meeting at which this ordinance was
discussed considered or acted upon was given in the manner required by the Texas Open
Meetings Act, as amended, and that each such meeting has been open to the public as required
by law at all times during such discussion, consideration and action. The City Council ratifies,
approves and confirms such notices and the come= and posting thereof.
SECTION 4. The public importance of this measure and the requirements of the law
create an emergency and an urgent public necessity requiring that this Ordinance be passed
and take effect as an emergency measure, and a state of emergency is hereby declared and
this Ordinance is accordingly passed as an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in
force immediately from and after its passage.
