Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:33 pm by the chair John Wilkinson.
II. Approval of Minutes: Following a motion by Sona West and a second by Moya Varner, the
September 5 th minutes were approved.
III. PRB Sub-Committee Updates:
• Melissa Pifko gave an update on the Program Planning Sub-Committee. The
haunted house has been cancelled. In it's place, the Sub-Committee is thinking of
holding a small carnival before the late October movie in the park. Sona
remarked that there needs to be more publicity letting people know that the
haunted house is going to be cancelled. Melissa also stated that the Santa's Night
Out did have a price error
• The Customer Service Sub-Committee and the Communications and Public
Relations Sub-Committee will be meeting together next week but have no new
updates at this time.
• David DeAnda was not present, so the Sub-Committee gave no updates, but John
stated that David is working on going through all of the old documents.
IV. Friends Overview: Amanda McGee reported that Direct Energy has agreed to be the 2013
Grand Sponsor again and will be the major underwritier for Friends events. Fathers and Flashlights
is sold out and a few families from the waitlist are now going to be able to attend.
V. Five Year WUP Parks Redevelopment Plan: JC Kneale presented the Five Year WUP Parks
Redevelopment Plan power point. There are 5 priorities for 2013: Whitt Johnson 2-5 year old
playground, Whitt Johnson 5-12 year old playground, Wier Park Playground Shade Structure,
Judson Tennis Court Replacement, and New Colonial Playground Features. JC also presented the
suggestions for Art in the Park. The Board voted on how they would like to prioritize the proposed
park enhancements. JC tallied the votes and in order of preference the results were: Wier Park
Playground Shade Structure, Judson Tennis Court Replacement, Whitt Johnson 2-5 year old
playground, Whitt Johnson 5-12 year old playground, and New Colonial Playground Features. Sona
proposed that a see-saw be added to Colonial Park and Melissa seconded the motion. JC motioned
that the Parks Board is in general agreement with the Redevelopment Plan. Melissa seconded the
motion and it was approved 8-0.
VI. Review of the Proposed 2013 PARD Fee Schedule: Tim gave a summary of the 2013
Proposed PARD Fee Schedule. There was a discussion about the Colonial Park Pool revenue for the
2012 season. Sona stated that the all-inclusive fees were a great idea. JC motioned to approve
the Proposed PARD Fee Schedule and Melissa seconded the motion. The motion was approved 8-
0.

VII. Citizen's Comments: There were no citizen's comments.
VIII. New Business: America Recycles Day will be observed on November 3 at Colonial Park.
John asked if anyone would be interested in attending as a Parks Board member. The Board then
went into a closed meeting to review the Parkland Acquisition Sub-Committee's work.
IX. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 7:56 pm.
The next meeting is scheduled for November 7, 2012 @ 6:30 pm.
