HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 2012-06 Proposing a tax rate and Scheduling Public HearingsCity of West University Place Harris County, Texas I:1 *1*14111DRI`IIh : a:rmPZI RESOLUTION PROPOSING A TAX RATE AND SCHEDULING PUBLIC HEARINGS; AND CONTAINING RELATED FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS. SECTION 1. The City Council formally proposes a combined ad valorem tax rate for 2012 of $0.37411 per $100 valuation. This proposal shall be placed on the agenda or a future meeting as an action item, subject ro the hearing schedule below. SECTION 2. A public hearing on the proposed tax increase is hereby schetluled for October 8, 2012 in the Council Chambers, 3800 University Blvd., West University Place, Texas 77005 during the City Council meeting set to begin at 6:30 p.m. The City Secretary shall make arrangements for the meeting and shall provide notice as required by law. SECTION 3. A second public hearing on the proposed tax increase is hereby scheduled for October 15, 20Wn the Council Chambers, 3800 University Blvd, at 6:30 p.m. A hearing on the proposed municipal budget is hereby called for the same meeting. The City Secretary shall make arrangements for the meeting and shall provide notice as required by law. SECTION 4. All prior resolutions and pads of resolutions in conflict herewiM are hereby repeated W the extent of the conflict only. SECTION 5. If any wtid, phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph, section or other pad of this resolution or the application thereof to any person Or circumstance, shall ever be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, the reminder Of this resolution and the application of such wort, phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph, section Or Other part of this resolution to any other amends or cirwmstances shall net be affected thereby. SECTION 6. The City Council officially fins, determined and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, hour, place and subject Or each meeting at which this rewritten was discussed, consitlered or acted upon was given In the manner required by the Texas Open Meetings Act, as amended, and that each such meeting has been open to the public as required by law at all times during such discussion, consideration and action. The City Council ratifies, approves and confirms such notices and the contents and posting thereof. SECTION 7.
