CURRi-:!;NT PATIlENT ACT OF J.""9~J; PROVIDING FOR ACCmIULATION OF DEEUCTIONS, DEPOSITING SM,'rE IN SEPA.TtATE FIJND, Al'ID PAYll::ENTS FROM WCH FUND; PROVIDING FOR REPORTS OF TAXES WITHHELD; PROVIDING FOR TERMINATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING FOR MODIFICATION OF ALL ORDINAHCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE OITY COMltISSION OF TIrE CITY OF \VEST UNI- VERSITY PLACE, TEXAS: Section 1. DEDUCTIONS TO BE W.iADE: That beginning with the first payroll on or after July 1, 1943, the City Treasurer of the City of West University Place is hereby authorized and directed to deduct and withhold from the wages and salary paid to each officer and employee of the City the tax in such an amount as is required by the U. S. Current Payment Act of 1943 on every payroll. Section 2. ACCUMULATION, DEPOSITING AID PAYMENT OF :FUNDS: The City Treasurer of the City of West University Place, at the time of making up the payroll or immediately thereafter, shall transfer the monies deducted therefrom under the provisions of this ordinance to a separate account in the Universi ty State Bank of Hop~t on, Texas, where they shall be deposited and designated as1fU. S. Tax Account ff and held for payment to the U. S. Call ector of Internal Revenue or his authorized agent, and the monies accumulated from such withholdings shall be paid to the United States Collector o~ Internal Revenue for the District in which this city is located, or to such other collecting agency that may be legally authorized to collect the same; all in accordance with the laws regulating such collections. Section 3. REPORT OF TAX VITTHHELD: The City Treasurer of the City of West University Place shall prepare and furnish to each em- ployee of the City, and to all other persons entitled thereto, written statements regarding deductions during employment, required by the U. S. Ourrent Payment Act of 1943. The City Treasurer of the City of West University Place shall keep such records and make such reports to the Bureau of Internal Revenue of wages and salaries paid and the tax collected and paid with respect thereto as that Bureau may require and p~escribe. Section 4. TE~1INATION: All accounts established for the re- ceiving of the tax funds hereunder shall be closed with the last pay- me,nt to the Federal Government of the funds withheld. The operation 8f this ordinance shall terminate at the time the tax levied by the U. S. Current Paym~nt Act of 1943 is terminated by Federal action. Section,. AMEl\TDMENT: All ordinances or parts thereof now in effect relating to payroll procedure of this city inconsistent here- with or with the provisions of the U. S. EMERGENCY: This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure made necessary for the preservation of the 'j.l' public peace and safety and to meet the requirements of the U. S.
