CITY COUNCIL TOWN HALL MEETINGS MINUTES
The City Council of the City of West University Place, Texas, held Town Hall Meetings on Monday,
April 9, 2012 at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 3:00 p.m., and on Thursday, April 12, 2012
at 6:00 p.m., in the Community Building, 6104 Auden, City of West University Place.
Call to Order. Mayor Fry called the meetings to order at 7:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m., on the
respective meeting dates outlined above. Council and staff in attendance at all meetings were: Mayor
Pro Tern Sample, Councilmembers Heathcott, Johnson, and Yehle, City Manager Ross, Police Chief
Walker, and Fire Chief Falls. City Secretary Lenz and Executive Assistant Moody alternated
attendance at the meetings.
The agenda for all three Town Hall meetings was as follows:
1. Street Parking
Matters related to a Town Hall meeting for City Council to discuss and hear comments from the
public relating to street parking.
Mayor Fry gave opening comments regarding the purpose of the meetings, which was to hear from
citizens on the issue and discuss possible solutions.
City Manager Ross presented a PowerPoint presentation and then the floor was opened to the
public for comments.
The most recurring suggestions regarding street parking were:
• Handle on a case -by -case basis
• Issue parking permits
• Do not prohibit street parking and enforce current regulations
• Alternate parking on either side of the street
• Have restricted parking hours
• No parking on streets at any time
