Park Improvements/Pledges and Payments to the Citv
• This year, Friends issued checks to the City totaling $175,000 for the Roe
Center playground and the shade structure at Colonial Park Pool (in addition
to the $1 million contribution to the overall project).
• Committed $176,040 to Phase I of the Judson Park redevelopment and have
planned our first "park party" for Sunday, May 22°d from 5:30 to 7:00 pm to
introduce the planned improvements to neighbors and provide information on
Friends and giving opportunities. We need volunteers for this event.
Volunteers to date include: Leah Ragiel, Amy Sahely, Matthew Foytlin,
Adrienne Vanderbloemen, and Heather Chilivctis.
• We have recently been given a $5,000 contribution from one of Tim
O'Connor's contacts. Tim will give us an overview and suggest a use for the
funds.
Marketing and PR
• Fresh injection of energy and ideas in the Public Relations and Marketing
arena. We've created a Master Calendar for marketing and PR to use in our
annual planning. We have planned our first marketing campaign and aligned
both marketing and PR with non-event sources of revenue.
• Donna has done a tremendous amount of work on the Friends website.
• Additionally we launched the Friends Facebook presence and established a
Friends Fan Page. I encourage you all to "friend" Friends.
Donor Recognition
• Development of Donor Recognition Vehicles implementation plan. Friends
Board voted to allocate up to $15,000 when funds are available for a new
donor recognition wall for past, present, and future donors at Colonial Park or
the Rec Center, most likely the Rec Center due to year around visibility.
Approved by City Council to be located at the Reg Center and formed a
working committee that will begin work this summer.
Friend Guild
• We continued to grow our guild membership this year and held 4 quarterly
coffees.
• A key development was partnering with Parks and Rec on database
management and invitation sending.
Pavers
• Successfi 1 transition of the inscription and installation of our pavers to a local
company.
• In addition to processing pending requests, the have begun an inventory
process and identified parks where we need new paver opportunities. This
will be the subject of a marketing push in the spring.
