Judson Park Redevelopment Report (Tim O'Connor)
In April of 2411, the Friends officially committed to funding $176,474.00 specifically for
the Phase I portion of the Judson Park redevelopment plan. The basic scope of the Phase
I portion of this project involved the following:
Equipment & Surfacing of the 2 - 5 year olds Playground.
• Equipment & Surfacing of the 5 -12 year olds Playground.
• Demolition & Disposal of Existing Equipment and Surfacing.
• Replacement of five (5) Park Benches.
• Replacement of five (5) Trash Receptacles.
• Installation of three (3) Recycling Receptacles.
• Replacement of the existing Water Fountain.
• Replacement of two (2) Picnic Tables.
• Construction ofa Concrete Donors Bench.
• Freight Charges and Normal Installation Charges.
The redevelopment project commenced on Wednesday July 6, 2011. During the course
of the demolition of the 5 - 12 year olds playground, It was determined that it would not
be possible to replace the existing Fibar ( wood chip ) safety base with the padded
artificial turf. The reason being to do so would mean the demise of the large Water Oak
that shades a full 60% of this play area. Staff determined that we would simply replace
the existing safety base with a new Fiber application. The results of this change order
involved the project receiving a $31,192.25 Credit. Staff authorized T.F. Harper to move
forward with facilitating the following portions of the 2012 Phase 11 portion of this
project:
• Replacement of the Remaining two (2) Picnic Tables.
• Replacement of the Remaining four (4) Park Benches.
• Replacement of the two (2) Bi-Level Outdoor Grills.
• Demolition & Disposal of Existing Equipment.
• Freight Charges and Normal Installation Charges.
• Construction of Concrete Pads for new Grills and Park Benches.
The afore mentioned portions of Phase II were priced at $12,104.00, leaving a Credit
Balance of $19,088.25 to be escrowed by Friends and applied to the balance of the Phase
II portion of the redevelopment. The estimated cost for the total Phase 11 portion of the
